  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Do you mean that if you were to deny Christ to save your life would you not receive eternal salvation? Well, Peter denied knowing Christ 3 times, yet he still had faith in who Christ was. We all fail at some point in our faith and God knows this and sometimes even expects it from us. It's why faith is a gift given to us and we receive it, not take it. It's why we all need a Savior and one was given to us!

I know I didn't directly answer your question, but I hope this is what you were getting at.

I have another question, for a new Christian, am I excpected to literally die for Christ today if my faith was tested, in order to recieve the "crown of life" and be saved?
God doesn't require a "mature faith" to save you. Faith is not "on the finals". Faith is something that operates between you and God for your spiritual life to live and grow. Without your relying on God, your spirit would die.

If you think of faith as being kind of like your senses, like hearing, that might glance a little more toward the truth. You can hear teaching and that helps you get good grades. But without hearing, it makes little sense attending a spoken lecture or listening to the radio. So also faith, the faculty on which a relationship with God is based, it makes no sense to say you have a relationship with God.

Who told you to expect "trials"?

What do THEY mean by "trials"?

Scripture does mention trials, but everything (all accomplishment) in life will, at times, include 'obstacles' (at times).

After accepting Jesus's purification of our souls (His spirit will purify our conscience, Hebrews 9:14), there is no 'initiation' of "trials". There WILL come times in the future when we will have to make hard decisions and stand on our faith that Jesus is the one responsible for our forgiveness of sin, but for now, relax and REST in The Lord (your first and most important trial is to do this).
