What things have more value for you? To have a television set, a cellular one, a computer, an automobile, the airplanes, vacations, clothes, a good house, alcohól, drugs, friends not so friends, much money ....... or to have a good harmony in family? …for what things would you make an effort more? what things would you resign for your family?

The "THINGS" of this world are just that, things. "God giveth God taketh away, blessed be the name of the Lord." I have seen so many times that christians love the THINGS of this world, and these things take away from their time they are to spend worshipping the Lord (everyday).

They make life more comfortable, they make life a little easier, but that is all. They have no sentimental value whatsoever.

It is the Lord, the Bible, His word that means everything to me, all else are just gifts-and only temporary.

It should be interesting to see how people respond to this. All of these things are important to people on varying levels. As for myself, I have a cell phone but I use it maybe once a month. Drugs are of no use to me except prescription ones that I need. I don't drink so I have no use for alcohol. I have a reliable automobile which I do need to get to and from work with. So I consider that a valuable asset to have. I have a computer that I use every day so I consider that valuable as well. I don't watch a lot of TV but I do consider it somewhat valuable.

I haven't taken a real vacation in over 5 years. I'm not going to spend $5,000+ like some do to take a 2 week galavant somewhere. I don't need an airplane...most everywhere I'd want to go I can get there by driving. I have a job that pays the bills and puts food on the table and allows me to have pretty much anything I need and want. I'm not rich...nor would I be considered middle-class. But I'm content. I realize that I do need money to get by in the world ... I do have friends at church but outside of that I don't really have any...but all I need is my family and my church family.

I could say that all I need is God. And while that is true it doesn't mean that I can't have worldly possessions. I just don't stake my faith in them. I realize that they will pass away at some point in time...but that doesn't mean that God doesn't want me to have them now. I think the most imperative thing of what you've listed IS to have harmony in the family. Discord in the family can lead to so many things that cause us to struggle.

God doesn't say we have to go around being poor and destitute. But by the same token we don't necessarily need to be so powerful and rich that we get caught up in the worldly things we possess either.

The Next thing to ask:
Do you actively Share your faith with someone else?

Whether it is leaving a Gospel tract or giving someone a gospel tract or starting a conversation with someone and talking of spritual things like their eternal destiny. Once a day? Once a week? Once a Month? once a year? have a hard time so no?

What if you were given $1000 for each person you truly shared your faith with by either giving a gospel tract to or starting a conversation, etc (see Romans 10), How about now? now would you do it? so, if you shared your faith with 8 people in a 2 hour period one day a week that is $8000. Is it making you think? now something else to think about, are you more willing to share your faith for money than being commanded to by your Lord and King.
I know it is hard, but there are good tracts out there www.livingwaters.com and there are way to strike up a convo with someone (I used to it at the drop of a dime when I was in my bar days). Let not another day pass without saying something or giving something to someone. we must be human shields between a lost world and hell (they should jumping over over our bodies to get there instead of just walking into in)

The Top number one things is God after that it's my family(those I include as family, including my church family)and also friends and also my brothers and sister in Christ:)

I believe that everything in this world has a value. It's all a matter of personal preference and beliefs. I'de like to be ideal and say that God is number 1 in my life all of the time. But I'de be lying. Different things have different values at different times. I think though, if you make sure to include God - or His Word - in all that you do, then it's good.

Like, if you're watching the television - flipping through the channels you stop on MTV (or the like) and there's a video on that centered on lust - then you should obviously change it. Or if coworkers are gossiping - get away from it. These things contredict the Word.

To make a list, I'de say that God is my number one. After that, my church family. There are other things I value, such as my laptop, or even my pillow - but to varying degrees.

I personally feel like every material thing has its place in this world. Afterall, God did create such things for our added pleasure in this life. I am also a firm believer that material possesions can become idols too. Anything that you value too much and spend too much time adoring could be considered as such. However, I can't imagine my life without my cell phone because it's great protection for a woman working or travelling alone, my TV because it's so entertaining and uplifting with Christian programming when I need it the most. Everything that is currently in my life; be that people, my kids, or my material things are all important to me for one reason or another. As long as you keep it all in perspective and put God first, there is nothing wrong with what you own. It's His pleasure to give us our desires when we prioritize as He'd have us do.

Someone once said, "If you're a miserable person before you're rich or own something that you desire...you will still be a miserable person afterwards." This is so true and without Christ, nothing means anything. :)

The only things that matter eternally is our relationship to Christ first; then our relationship to our spouse and children; then the church (brothers and sister in Christ); then the community. Relationships is what is important in the order I have mentioned.

But things? They are nice but not eternally important at all and won't matter when I leave this earth.

Lk 12:49-53

Jesus said to his disciples:
“I have come to set the earth on fire,
and how I wish it were already blazing!
There is a baptism with which I must be baptized,
and how great is my anguish until it is accomplished!
Do you think that I have come to establish peace on the earth?
No, I tell you, but rather division.
From now on a household of five will be divided,
three against two and two against three;
a father will be divided against his son
and a son against his father,
a mother against her daughter
and a daughter against her mother,
a mother-in-law against her daughter-in-law
and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.”

I try and remember this
Matt 6:19-20 "Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth,...........but store up for yourselves treasures in heaven..."
So the most valuable thing in my life is having a relationship with our living God, and making sure I am doing my best to put Him first.
I value, and thankful for and give God the praise for my husband, children, family, and then all the things that make my life more easier, pleasureable, I love kitchen gadgets!!! but of course these things can be taken away in a second, its important where we place our priority. Think of 911 and hurricane Katrina. If I didn't value God's presence in my life, or didn't have loved ones, I would be lost in times such as these.

Why would you adopt these practices when you say you are a Christian. If you wish to live a minimilist lifestyle, that is great and it is also biblical, there are scriptures that support this. I just put one in my previous post. So why give credit to Hindu and Buddhists for your choice of living with less?

I'd have to say God is number one. Second is family, and my friends Kara, Michelle, and Dustin. Other friends make third. The rest just depends. A reliable car is good to have, and so is a computer. But as long as I have numbers 1 and 2, I'm good.God and believing family are the most important things a person can have. God bless.
