  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

If you go to youtube and search on keywords like xian, psych, folk, and loner, you come up with about fifty artists from the 70s that didn't make it during that time but put out excellent music. In fact, many of these records are now selling for $300 to over $1000.

The sad fact is that these were people that were trying to do ministry, create music that was more relevant and more "in tune" than most of the mainstream artists who became famous.

What this says to me is one reason why we've really fallen as a Christian nation is that it really as been about "business" and not so much about ministry, at least in America, for the last 40 years. I don't say this to be divisive, but I think the lack of anyone helping this bands up really proves this.

Jesus told us, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.” Luke 19:40 - bless you for hearing their cry!

Here is one by my good friend Pat Quinn of East Lansing MI. He was one of my "guitar heros" as a young college kid in the early-mid 1970s. A couple of decades later I got to lead worship for a seminar in his home congregation which was quite an honor. BTW - I knew about half of the musicians on this album.

Ahhh...here is the one I used to do the housework to

Hi Musical gal! found this little thread and love this album! Can just imagine a housewife singing and dancing and dusting, sweeping and cleaning while praising the Lord! Really love the song on here "Angel Voices at 21:03 it is so up-beat "Comes the dawning of the day, when things will fade away" and it has this great horn section blowing away so cheerfully. Thank you for posting this. It must have been an English group from the sound of them and I never heard of them before.

Here is a great one from another Michigan band: Aslan from Spring Arbor College. This was recorded in '72. I did NOT know these guys. My fave track is "Celebrate" starting at 34:23.

Wow! that was a Christian group; the look like Queen or some other heavy-metal group?:) And we were taking about heavy-metal groups for the new forum; maybe we could look at them; I don't have time to listen to them right now; but did their lyrics praise the Lord?

well, when I took my daughter to see them in concert...I waited outside, they were so loud! I am sure they were Christian words as my daughter was on fire for the Lord at the time...
