All Scripture verses are from the NKJV.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with (Father) God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with (Father) God … And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us …” (John 1:1,14)

Gabriel instructed that this divine Baby was to be called:
“Jesus” (Matthew 1:21, Luke 1:31)
“the Son of the Highest” (Luke 1:32)
“that Holy One” (Luke 1:35)
“the Son of God” (Luke 1:35)

John the Revelator said: “His (Jesus’) name is called the Word of God” (Revelation 19:13)
“Behold … they shall call His name Immanuel”,
which is translated, ‘God with us’.” (Matthew 1:23)

… which is from Isaiah’s prophesy: “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel” (Isaiah 7:14)

Jesus’ mother (Mary) was definitely a virgin
(Matthew 1:18, Matthew 1:25, Luke 1:34).
Jesus’ “father” was God the Holy Spirit
(Matthew 1:18, Matthew 1:20, Luke 1:35)
.
Yes, God the Holy Spirit played the role of Jesus’ “father”
… that is why Jesus was to be called “the Son of God”.
So, this is why Jesus was considered to be both
God and man, the God-man!

Concerning Jesus never sinning
“Therefore, in all things He had to be made
like His brethren …” (Hebrews 2:17)
“(He) was in all points tested as we are,
yet without sin.” (Hebrews 4:15)
“(He) who is holy, harmless, undefiled,
separate from sinners” (Hebrews 7:26)
“He made Him (Jesus) who knew no sin
to be sin for us” (2 Corinthians 5:21)
“Who committed no sin, nor was deceit
found in His mouth.” (1 Peter 2:22)
“He was manifested to take away our sins,
and in Him there is no sin.” (1 John 3:5)

A British Christian lady doctor told me that a baby “inherits” the DNA of both parents. So, it would appear that Mary passed on her sinful nature to Jesus.
Jesus’ “father” was God the Holy Spirit.
Jesus’ mother was Mary (with her inherited sin nature).
How did Jesus manage to NOT sin ...
if He inherited his mother’s sin nature?
All I know is … Jesus was different than we are:
He did NOT have 2 human parents!

Jesus is our perfect High Priest to secure our salvation
“He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.” (Hebrews 5:9)
This does not mean obeying the gospel, which is an invitation and not a command!

Salvation is for all who love Jesus enough
to obey His commandments

I am only listing my 5 favorites …
● “If anyone does not love the Lord,
that person is cursed.” (1 Corinthians 16:22)
● “If you love Me, keep My commandments.”
(John 14:15)
● “He who has My commandments and keeps them,
it is he who loves Me. … If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word … He who does not love Me does not keep My words …” (John 14:21-24)
● “Now he who keeps His commandments
abides in Him, and He in him.” (1 John 3:24)
● “If you keep My commandments, you will abide
in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s comm-
andments and abide in His love.” (John 15:10)

… and here’s the parallel verse to the one just above …
“To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me
on My throne, (just) as I also overcame and
sat down with My Father on His throne.”
(Revelation 3:21)

Everything is conditional,
including our righteousness and our salvation!

So, let us be ...
“(slaves) of obedience leading to righteousness” (Romans 6:16)
“slaves of righteousness for holiness”
(Romans 6:19)
“holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.”
(Hebrews 12:14)
BACs were chosen and called to be obedient and practice righteousness so they would be righteous in God’s eyes!
“… let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous just as He is righteous. … In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God” (1 John 3:7-10)
“… who fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him” (Acts 10:35)

The Immaculate Conception is the conception of the Virgin Mary free from original sin by virtue of the merits of her son Jesus Christ. The Catholic Church teaches that God acted upon Mary in the first moment of her conception keeping her "immaculate".[1]

"Tis complete and total nonsense, isn't it?
My understanding of what the immaculate Conception
has meant historically ... and ...
... the Virgin Mary free from original sin
by virtue of the merits of her son Jesus Christ.

My reference to the Immaculate Conception
has been forever and ever erased from the OP!

Catholics call the Immaculate Conception Mary's birth, not Jesus' birth. The Virgin birth is commonly understood as Jesus' birth.

Thanks, Dave, for the much-needed heads-up!
But, it's not Scriptural, so it's all "the doctrines of men"!
No wonder I can't comprehend it.
I'm brainwashed ... in the Scriptures (and nothing else).

You cover keeping the commandments of Jesus, but fail to focus on what those two greatest commandments are. They are transformative to our understanding of scripture.

If you do a study on "Faith" you'll find it's link with salvation.

Yes, you are correct.
But, doesn't Jesus expect us to obey more
of His commandments other than just
the 2 most important ones?

As I understand, believers of all time, from Abel to Abraham to St. John, lived according to the Two Great Commandments of love for God and people, written in the heart.

But God used unbelievers in OT Israel to provide a buffer zone and to provide the Promised Land for them. To these he gave the Ten Commandments.

The Ten Commandments forced the unbelievers to act good under threat of death. And harnessed their greed, promising land and plenty for obedience.

The Ten Commandments hung from the Two Great Commandments at a level even Al Capone could understand and keep if there was something in it for him.

So Christ later replaced the Ten Commandments (the Old Covenant) on the cross. Replacing it with the New Covenant for believers only. (In this he broke off the unbelieving Jews from Israel). The New Covenant centers of the Two Great Commandments and requires love as the proper motive behind good works.

We still use the Ten Commandments for instruction and commentary, but we do not observe them legalistically.

Thanks for that ... but I hope you don't think that
Jesus was referring to ONLY obeying the 2 major
NT commandments and the Ten Commandments!
He gives multitudes of specific commandments, such as: Forgive those who sin against you, or Father God will not forgive your sins.

Love does this.
“Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law. For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.” (Romans 13:8–10) (KJV 1900)

Jesus did not inherit anything from Mary.

God created the entire zygote of Jesus and planted it within Mary's womb.

Jesus was pretty big on common sense and keeping whatever rules make sense. He was not big on keeping rules and regs as a requirement for acceptability or piety or morality but rather looked to what is in a person's heart and how he/she actually regarded God and their fellow man in his/her words and deeds.

And, IMO, he was pretty explicit that the two most important commandments are all that is necessary to keep the spirit and concept of all the others.

I’m not clear on your view of the Nature of Jesus Christ. I did see some things cited which confirms Jesus Christ the Divine Logos is truly God and truly human.

In your view is Jesus Christ One Person with two natures?

Of course, this is possible.

I would say that it's more likely God created and implanted the complete zygote (instead of merely the sperm cell) to achieve a fully sinless incarnation than all kinds of other theological workarounds.

And that was actually the original belief--all of Jesus came from God, Mary was essentially fertile soil for the seed planted by God. The idea that Mary contributed genetic material came more than 1500 years later.

Philippians 2

6Who, existing in the form of God,

did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,

7but emptied Himself,

taking the form of a servant,

being made in human likeness.

8And being found in appearance as a man,

He humbled Himself and became obedient to death—

even death on a cross.

Two "forms" are attributed to Jesus Christ in Philippians 2:6, 7: the "form of God" and the "form of a servant" or slave. Christ was in the form of God before He took the form of a bond servant.

The form of a thing is the mode in which it reveals itself; and that is determined by its nature. "Being in the form of God" refers to Christ's prior, and continued, existence. The writer of the Epistle to the Hebrews describes Christ prior to His incarnation as "being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person" (Hebrews 1:3), which means possessing and manifesting all the qualities and prerogatives of God.

Paul describes what Christ laid aside when He became man and took human flesh. He did not lay aside His deity; His deity was manifested in another form, the form of a "slave." Christ did not come to earth for self -glorification as God. He did the very opposite . He renounced all His divine prerogatives.

"Himself he emptied" is the emphatic form in the Greek, accentuating His voluntariness. This is God's supreme revelation of His character. It is full of infinite merit. The limitations on His deity and equality with God were self-imposed. "The Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many" Matthew 20:28.

He received human form and nature by being born of a human women ... He retained His deity and divine nature through the intervention of the Holy Spirit with His birth.

He was fully God and fully man - sinless.

God Bless.

Looking with lust on a woman is the same as adultery.
This is logical and makes sense?

Within the context that was given and within the larger meaning I think was intended, yes it makes perfect sense. The point is that none of us are without sin or without need for forgiveness. Jesus illustrated it in the passage when the adulterous woman was about to be stoned: 'he who is without sin cast the first stone.' So nobody did.

It is a lesson a lot of us have to keep learning.

Jesus was absolute in his keeping of the Law. What Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for was not the rules that didn't make sense rather the rules that were not part of the law (tradition of the elders). And yes, He correctly saw that outward piety often had little to do with the condition of the heart.
