What Spiritual gifts do you wish you had?

All this talk dissecting scriptures and fighting is wearing me down.
I would rather hear your dreams and visions of what you want to do for the Lord and which gifts you dearly treasure and would be willing to fast for if God promised a major anointing in that area if you did the grunt work?!!?!
How did you get into the charismatic movement? Do you want your own churches someday or feel called into a particular area. Less fighting and more fellowship!

Warning: no postings of scriptures to fight a point not argued here, no arguing.. just dreaming and clouds.. like we're all laying in the grass watching the sky and talking like people instead of theologists.

I would love to operate in all of the gifts freely. I would love to walk up to someone in a wheel chair, or a blind person, etc and say "be healed" in the name of Jesus.

I would love to bring forth the Word of the Lord in song and see the unsaved fall to their knees in repentance.

I believe that all of this is available to me as needed. . .but am I willing to pay the price it takes to operate in them as needed. . . not yet. I'm sad to say.

Well I hope you get what you want jesusislord have you tried fasting and asking for it?
Quaffer I agree completely I want that too and I am willing to pay the price.. I paid alot so far, I gave up my living arrangements for doing deliverance because my grandma who I rented from was angry as she was a borderline everything religion and leaned toward spiritualism. So I moved out and got married though I didnt want to because I begged everyone not to bring cameras but they were thoughtless and did anyhow. I rented from my MIL who was possessed and would climb up to our loft and spy on us during any moment. God had pity and reconciled me wth my grandma so I am away from my crazy MIL.. my husband is miles away because we have dropped everything and God gave him an awesome high paying job and we have to move cross the state to go to prophet school and its terrifying and yet im dropping my life and doing it.
I get up at whatever time God drags my tuchus out of bed to pray and minister and intercede for popele.
I am trying to be super holy and fast ten days but my body just isnt letting me this week.. HOw am I doing so far? Im not being a snot Im genuinely concerned. ??!

I was thinking a little differently when you asked about being willing to pay the price.

Do you think that God's gifting's in your life depends on your holiness? And what is the difference between regular holy and super holy?

If God has called you to fast that is commendable, but I don't think it's our works that make His gifts and abilities through us work.

I'm not trying to be argumentive. . .I was just kinda curious about what you've said here.

NO it was a joke.. I think anyone who can fast ten days is superhuman not sueprholy..Its not our works but my dad raised me to fast whenever I wanted a new gift.

I've known people that fasted for longer than 10 days. . .but I'm not one of them.

NO apologies necessary.. yea this fasting thing is hard. My husband called and told me not to until next week.. hmm maybe he knows Im still practicing.. the longest I can go is three days eh.. In the meantime I think I will have a nice cup of popcorn!

I've been taught a variety of reason's to fast. One is for repentance. Another is to overcome obstacles in one's life and bring the flesh under subjection of God. And then there is the leading of God.


This is the first I've heard of fasting to get a spiritual gift.

I would like to fast more for overcoming obstacles and bringing my flesh under subjection but I do have difficulty going for an extended period of time without food. Not because I get hungry but because my blood sugar drops low and I become ill.

I guess though that I could do it for short periods of time. . .the Lord looks at the heart.

For me, sharpening of the gifts comes more in my communion with Him and in my usage of what He's given.

ahh i have low blood sugar too but I keep believing it will be fixed. Im in a wicked catch 22.. I have low blood sugar BUT my insulin isnt sensitive so I take diabetic medication when I dont have and am nowhere near diabetic.. thats another reason that makes me know this is spiritual. I may just try prayer instead of fasting.. this week I really like food for some reason.

That could be called the "gift of giving". I guess when I start being faithful with the little I have then He'll bless me with more. Then I could give more than 10% . . .that would be fun.

I used to tithe 20% in HIghschool. NOw I do ten and wish I had the money to do twenty. eh

Fasting doesn't have to be from food or from all forms of food. Give up something that is meaningful to you. Fasting is about sacrificing the flesh for the spiritual. Give up something that would be a sacrafice for you like TV, internet, or maybe meat at meal time. You just need to decide to use those times you would be doing those things to get closer to God and to deny the flesh.

This thread started as dreams, my husband and I dream of being able to create good paying jobs so that those who are homeless and hungry in this world can say that thier needs have been met in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and thus He must care for me and have something He wants me to know. I am less concerned about fasting for that dream than I am concerned about whether I have the faith to see it come about.

I've always wanted the gifts of healings, which wld also be accompanied by gift of faith and working of miracles. eg you prob need all 3 to pull someone out of a wheelchair.

Sometimes, I feel a little down, when after praying for, says, my sick wife, nothing visible happens immediately.

Then I start to think, maybe there's something wrong with me. Then the Holy Spirit reminds me it is all by grace, nothing to do with how 'holy' you are. I'm encouraged but still somewhat frustrated. *LOL

I had a friend who fasted 40 days with his youth group. Thats, fasting from food. Only drinking water and fruit juice.
