Great topic, globalization is a big negative to me and while it promises much it delivers so little. Too bad we have sold out to corporations, creating near monopolies that have shed the profit motive and adopted social causes and privacy violations that should send a chill up everyone's spine. It is shameful that some of the largest corporations control government policies that create debt, promote immorality, defraud consumers and limit competition. To summarize some companies want their vision of utopia and that utopia is quite scary. Some don't care if nation-states fail, so that they can take up the slack. They can then control competitors, control the labor supply, control the supply chains and create a dependency on them. It would not surprise me if some developed into part of what what John saw. John could not recognize them as corporations, he would have no idea. Government is far behind them already in financial resources, technology and even your personal data. It looks like they pay tribute to Congress, or other national governments but the reality is that when they government's fine them on one hand, they assist and build them up on the other through all kinds of special legislation and favoritism. Governments are so weak that they give help to known enemies because how dare we stop the idols of business and trade flows. This is going to put a hurt on all the Western world. God help us all.
