  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

what should I do?

I know it might sound scary now, but relationships are to find a future spouse. And obviously if your faith is important to you then you wouldn't marry an atheist. The relationship between husband and wife (or girlfriend or boyfriend for that matter) should be such that you both are continually growing closer to God and in turn you grow closer to eachother. Obviously being in a relationship with an atheist would pull you away from God so I dont see why you would waste your time or risk your relationship with God

[staff edit]I like my sister's friend but he is an atheist and I don't know what to do. Can you give memsome advice onmwhat to do. Please

Liking people (their religion at this early phase in the friendship/relationship doesn't matter) and getting crushes is really common for teens, so I'd say don't worry too much about just liking him (if you still like him so many months after you posted this haha). It's only a little bit more problematic if the guy likes you back, because you probably would want to go out with him.

It would be hypocritical for me to tell you not to go out with an atheist, because I am with one (tbh we haven't discussed religion yet but I know he doesn't go to church, but then again neither do I). It depends on where you prioritise religion in your life (it should probably be ahead of your relationships), but there's so much more to a person than just their religion.

And who knows, they might convert one day. If you like someone and that person likes you back, just give it a shot. :p
