If you want to avoid confrontation you could begin by not inserting your thoughts that the Catholic Church is "the Church" into most of your conversations.

This is taken as a put down to others and their churches.

It is not that you have to change your beliefs... just be more understanding that others do not place the same value upon your Church.

I think this one step would bring a lot of peace to you.

I mentioned it in a different post, but I can't deny my Church. I cannot speak the lie that most Protestants want us to say, which is that the "true church" is the one that is invisible, and hidden within various denominations only by true believers. If you ask us to deny the truth of our Church, you ask us to admit a lie and argue upon that lie, and it cannot be done. It is a barrier, and an important one. Asking us to ignore it or deny it is like asking you to pledge allegience to the Pope, it's not going to happen.

If we speak in absolute truths or accurate history then we are said to be putting someone down, and we're sorry that this occurs and that you get defensive because of it, but we still must speak in absolute truths and historic accuracy. I am not going to dilute truth for your sake and speak anything less nor do I expect you to. It can only be said a little more softly but we still have the right to say it.

Peace

Thanx, Luv
Theresa
