Why not? If they're doing the mocking because they know you're a Christian nothing you say is going to do anything but make them laugh harder. You praying for them? (and not that whole announcing to everyone: "I'm praying for all you heathens!" but an honest from the heart prayer) on the other hand isn't a bad way to react. Both for you and them. Our weapons aren't the same weapons as theirs, and ours tends to get things done in ways we can't even see.

We're Christians. We don't behead folks who disparage our faith. Well, not in modern times anyway.

You should do nothing. The Father and the Son can take care of themselves. Do you not know that He can call a legion of chariots down from heaven anytime He wants? If he doesn't, there is a reason, and maybe we shouldn't interfere ...even though cutting off an ear or two seems like the just thing to do in the flesh.

Jesus prayed for the people who mocked him while he was on the cross, although to us it would have been practical to just kill them off with ten thousand angels.

Where and when are you referring to?
If you are talking about people in your family, at work or friends, then you can talk to them about how offensive you find these comments and how it shows that they have no respect for you and your believes.
Ensure that you are able to show that belief in God is perfectly reasonable.
If you are referring to people you have no personal contact with then all you can do is pray.
If it is in the media you can contact that media and make an intelligent, reasonable protest.
If you are referring to atheist forums ignore them unless you are prepared to fight an unless battle.

Let them know you don't appreciate their disrespect toward the God you love and serve. Maybe remind them that they will give an accounting to God for the words they've spoken in mockery of Him. Share with them the Gospel, if possible.

It is simple to say how a Christian should react ( that has been fairly well stated by most of the previous posters here) but it is not easy to react in that way. So if a Christian does not immediately react in the correct way and instead reacts in the same way any non Christian might react (i.e. returning disdain for disdain) it ought not be that surprising.
