How horrible that he would use children to peddle his hate. :(

It is hard to imagine what he could be thinking.

But... (and this is hardly directed at you personally)

We can no more rightly turn from him than he can rightly turn from the gays he so despises. Our calling to love people does not end when they are unacceptable; it is intensified by their need.

Of course not! :)

Phelps is in error. That is the only discussion. Any other discussion regarding his eternal destination is judging and gossip. Take your pick. Either of those are just as much sin as the 'hate' that Phelps is teaching. Another poster here said it well. Hate the sin, love the sinner. We don't get to say who is saved or who isn't saved, nor do we get to say who should or shouldn't be saved.

I agree with yet another poster here who said that if saved we won't continue in sin. However, that concept must be balanced. Paul wrote to folks who he considered to be saved brothers and sisters in faith, who were in the Corinthian Church, and who were clearly in error on several points. He didn't say they weren't saved. He encouraged them toward truth and obedience. He blessed them.

May God Bless.

But there's an important distinction here. The good people of the Corinthian church was in error. Paul corrected them, and they were open to his advice, and willing to repent. Phelps, on the other hand, refuses to repent. We would hate Phelps even more if we tried to pretend that he is a Christian. Phelps is not a Christian, and if anyone tells him that he is, they are ensuring his condemnation by hindering him from repentance. We can know Christ's people by the fruit they bear, and Phelps' fruit is rotten.
