From reading, it seems the Sadducee's didn't even really believe in God's promises (Nominal), and they were just there in power for worldly desires, they saw Jesus as a threat to their political power.

The Pharisees, had a lot of legalism and adding to the scriptures some may go as far to say the Pharisees brought paganism in secretly. (There are some conspiracies that the Pharisees and Sadducee's weren't even Hebrew but pagans that sneaked into power), I don't know the truth to that part however.

I don't think they at all recognized Jesus as God since their sinfulness was blinding them.

Are they basically a reflection of corrupt religious leaders, that were chasing their desires instead of fulfilling the will of God?

The Pharisee's view of the coming Messiah was as a powerful king who was going to kick out the Romans and restore sovereignty to Judaea. This view prejudiced their interpretation of the Scriptures, so that they did not see the true prophecies of how their Messiah was really going to appear.

So, instead of their Messiah appearing in power and authority as expected, Jesus was born in a stable, worked as a humble carpenter, and then appear in His ministry healing sick folk and casting out demons. He did not want to advertise Himself as the Messiah, because that would then corrupt and upset His true mission: to be tried and executed as a criminal to die and shed His blood for the sins of the world, and then rise from the dead. If He had advertised His Messiahship and backed it up with signs and wonders, He would have been accepted as a revolutionary hero and the leaders and people would have prevented His crucifixion.

That is why the Sadducees and Pharisees did not accept Jesus as their Messiah, because they were expecting a revolutionary hero, not a humble teacher who trained 12 disciples and made no attempt to overthrow anyone to restore the sovereignty of Judaea. He told Pilate that He was a king, but not of this world, otherwise His followers would fight to introduce His kingdom. The devil tried to sidetrack Jesus in showing Him the kingdoms of the world and promising Jesus power over them if He would fall down and worship him. Jesus wasn't having any of that, because He knew what His mission really was.

That makes sense why they would misinterpret the scriptures at those times. They were probably tired of the Roman rulers and just wanted the King to come and conquer the Romans away.

There is some truth to it.

The Hillel School of Pharisee that ultimately became the modern Orthodox Judaism openly welcomed non-Jewish converts.

It is mentioned in both Jewish religious texts and the Bible. It could certainly pave the way for non Hebrews to become Jews.

There are theories of infiltration by patriarchal nomadic tribes from Russia. Ironically, Genghis Khan's ancestry may have also originated from the same region. The group tends to possess great cunning and desire for global conquest.

It seems to mirror the military campaigns of conquest by the Jews during the Old Testament and how they became to be feared by everyone.
