If someone offered you a million dollars - what would you have to do to accept it - reach for it - the same is with accepting Jesus into your heart. As the first post said - the Bible tells us that WHOSOEVER believes - it is your choice - accept it or reject it - it is that simple.

So that's it? You just believe and you're good?

I must assume that you have a different understanding of reality. As for me, I dont think I can take you seriously, or would you take me seriously if I told you that there were no trees in the world?

If you can point me to a question you asked in a thread you started, where I deliberately danced around your question, I'll recant.

Like I said, I answer questions posed to me, and those that are posed that I can't answer, I say so.

Sorry, bad question. Nevermind

Do you believe that you will take your next breath - belief is having faith in what you know, but cannot see. There are only two choices - either you believe or you do not - straddling the fence is not a yes or no in either direction.

I agree. That's why I took back my last question as it was a poor one. I guess I still go back to my other question, which is once you believe, is that it? Is there anything else necessary?

Yes, there is a lot more - but not required - once you truly believe, your heart will be toward God and you will want to do His Will. Once you believe, confess your sins and ask forgiveness - the Bible says that God sees your sins no more - they are in the lake of forgetfullness. It is as if you have never sinned. Your love of God will send you to His Word and you will want to be baptised, seek out the Scripture and the the Will of God in what He asks of you. Your life changes and you will want to do the two Commandments that Jesus left us as He ascended into Heaven - have no other Gods before us and love your neighbor as yourself - when you keep these two commandments - you have fulfilled all the others.

I have two questions Sharon...

By what do we know His will for our lives/how do we know if we are living in a way pleasing to Him/what will we be measured against in the judgement?

Do you believe that only the sins on record up until you accept Christ as your Saviour are forgiven, or all sins for the rest of your life without having to ask again?

Once you have asked Jesus to be the Lord of your life - the Holy Spirit will lead you. It's like that still small voice that makes you feel so bad when you do something wrong - that is the Holy Spirit leading you. It's like when you meet someone you don't know and instantly feel the need to help in some way - that is the Holy Spirit leading you. When you feel the need to pray for someone and you don't know why - that is the Holy Spirit leading you. If you read the Bible and a verse jumps out at you - that's the Holy Spirit talking to you.

It is just a daily walk and a close relationship with God, hand in hand with Jesus and led by the Holy Spirit.

My own belief is that we need to ask forgiveness for sins we know we have committed. Jesus died for all our sins, but once you let a sin slip by and do not ask forgiveness, the next one is easy. It's like dust piling up in the corner - if you don't see it, it grows. Keep it swept clean.

I agree that when we believe the Lord works a work of change in our lives that transforms our minds and leads us to Him. So would you say that there are things that we have to do though in order to be saved? And I don't mean that there are works that are on a checklist and so long as you hit each on you're saved. What I'm asking is, do you believe there is a part you play in your salvation besides belief?

I have experienced a couple of times that when I was walking the street and was talking to God in spirit and lets say I had a question regarding my life or what to do my head was turned to something lets say a bilboard and there was a message that perfectly fit the situation...

Stryder - remember the story in the Bible about the workers in the field - the owner chose to pay the ones hired on at the last hour the same as those that had worked all day. That is how God feels toward us. Compare that love to the love of a child of your own - one child is outstanding and goes forward without much encouragement and the other just lays back and does not put much effort - you may get put out by the child that does nothing, but it does not affect your love. God's love for us is not determined by what we do. If you don't do anything to grow your talents, they will die, the same with our faith, if we do not draw closer because we want to, our faith will die, maybe not our beliefs, but our faith to build a closer relationship with God. We don't work to gain salvation, we have salvation to do God's work.

The workers who came in at the last hour still worked. They just didn't work as long. And I agree that we don't work to gain salvation. It is a gift. What are your thoughts on the idea that your works help you maintain your salvation?
