Interesting that this post has had no responses.
So everyone thinks this is a good thing?
Or does no one care that the President of the USA was so adamant before he became Pres. that he was not Muslim and loved the good ol' USA and all it's Jews and Christians.

It's not a huge concern. After the quagmire of Iraq, the USA has no choice but to be more pragmatic in its relations, which means reaching out to the Muslims. Of course, this comes at the expense of its relationship with Israel. We can see this now with the American "demands" on Israel, but the truth is that the US has little more than brokerage power in the Middle East. How long have they clamoured for peace at any cost? They are not our masters.

So, the US-Israel alliance is disintegrating. If this is to be the end, then little more can be said. It stood strongly more or less for 42 years.

Remember that Israel existed and was doing quite well before America came along as an ally (see Six-Day War). Israel had close relations with France and cordial relations with the Soviet Union before that. When those partnerships went south, it wasn't the end of Israel as we know it.

Israel has other very good options for allies. The United States is not the end-all be-all it claims to be, and an Israeli strategic shift would hurt the US more than Israel. It should also be a reminder to Jews still languishing in States that it might be time to go.
