I just have to eat, non-stop. I'm a skinny person too, to start with, but all the eating
still always makes me nervous. I mean,
nobody likes to gain a lot of weight in the FIRST trimester, because you KNOW you'll have to gain lots more as you go along!!!!!!!!!
If it makes you feel any better, I always lose it later (when baby nurses it right out of me--heehee~!)...
That's my big bright advice, after doing this four times--well, make that five now. Just get lots of healthy-type snacks, and
eat constantly. I'm well-known in my house for suddenly looking green, jumping up to the kitchen and getting out the toaster at lightening speed and toasting a slice of whole grain bread, lathering it with a good dose of healthy peanut butter, and shoving it down my throat like a mad woman.
(It's either that, or I'll be running to the toilet to puke)!
I buy organic almonds and organic dried apricots in bulk--those are good (and healthy) quick grabs to fend of a bout of sickness, too, so they just sit in my fridge awaiting my hand... Cheese is another great one--just a little hunk will ward off a wave of sickness (though cheddar grosses me out when I'm pregnant, so I buy Colby/Jack then).
Something about protien really makes it helpful...wish I could tell you why, medically, but I can't. All I know is...it works!
The best medicine, however, is the simple phrase:
"This, too, shall pass."
*grin*
