Light hearted;54139220]Ozell, there is so much that goes against New Testament.

If the don't speak accordingly LH then their is a problem,

Isa 8:20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

Correct, there is no longer an animal sacrifice, since the animal sacrifice became simply a religious act, it didn't turn their heart towards God.

and most if not all agree and actually the topic should have ended a long time ago but some still disagree and wnat to add there own understanding to what is ended and what is not.

I have to question the term of "Jesus dietary laws". I thought it was God of whom set the laws for Isreal. I figured it would be God's dietary law and not Jesus' law.

LH you are correct, but you are well aware how man had added their understanding, people call it moses laws which if really should be God's laws, and a person who lacks understanding will not understandthat it is Jesus laws, He is the one who gave it to Moses.

Although when I think about it...It would be better if it really was Jesus' dietary laws, that way it would make it more official for him to rewrite his own law, as we read below.

Looking deeper we can move to Mark 7,
18 “Don’t you understand either?” he asked. “Can’t you see that the food you put into your body cannot defile you? 19 Food doesn’t go into your heart, but only passes through the stomach and then goes into the sewer.” (By saying this, he declared that every kind of food is acceptable in God’s eyes.)

LH
you are aware of Jesus Dietary laws, I ask you should the unclean animal went into the mouth if you are of God?

also lets look deeper?

Lev 11:44 For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

Jesus said in Lev11 that certain foods defile a man, which is which?

lets look deeper?

Lev 18:30 Therefore shall ye keep mine ordinance, that ye commit not any one of these abominable customs, which were committed before you, and that ye defile not yourselves therein: I am the LORD your God.

LH

Israel was told not to defile themselves with abominable customs, the nation before them did these same things and the Lord spued them out and he threaten Israel with the same thing.

is Jesus the same?

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

lets look deeper

go back and read your verse and then read the one below

Mt 15:18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

information and words also can enter into a man, and wrong information and wrong words can come forth from a man. the heart is the mind the Lord speaks of.

Just curiuous... why when i ask about eating certain foods, you never include this verse?

ask me LH or add it to your statement.

I don't associate this with the dietary laws, the verse you speak of is about words!!!

Now we could look at this in a chronological order. We have Gen 1:30, which states that every animal is for food.

read it again LH, the herb is the meat not the animals

Animals were not eaten at this time.

29: And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.

30: And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

Gen 9:1 Everything that lives and moves will be food for you
.

yes it does say this, but lets back up my Brother.:)

3: Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
4: But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.

Gen 6v18: But with thee will I establish my covenant; and thou shalt come into the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee.
19: And of every living thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the ark, to keep them alive with thee; they shall be male and female.
20: Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
21: And take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt gather it to thee; and it shall be for food for thee, and for them.

2 by 2 it says of the animals.
what food did Noah and the animals eat at that time? herbs and fruit/vegatables.

now lets jump in to the 7th chapter of Genesis and PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO WHAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO READ.

Gen 7v 1: And the LORD said unto Noah, Come thou and all thy house into the ark; for thee have I seen righteous before me in this generation.
2: Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female:

and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.

3: Of fowls also of the air by sevens, the male and the female; to keep seed alive upon the face of all the earth.

before we get to the 9th chapter Brother, the Lord has already set the guidelines of CLEAN AND UNCLEAN.

yet remember Noah and his family, nor the animals ate meat.

Now we move forward to Lev where we have the dietary law.

Then back to Mark 7, where Jeses himself declares one unclean by what comes out of your mouth, not by the food one eats.

do unclean food come out of your mouth, do clean food come out of your mouth?

lets read it for a understanding as Jesus said

Mk 7v14: And when he had called all the people unto him, he said unto them, Hearken unto me every one of you, and understand:
15: There is nothing from without a man, that entering into him can defile him: but the things which come out of him, those are they that defile the man.
do unclean food come out of your mouth, do clean food come out of your mouth?

16: If any man have ears to hear, let him hear.
17: And when he was entered into the house from the people, his disciples asked him concerning the parable.
18: And he saith unto them, Are ye so without understanding also? Do ye not perceive, that whatsoever thing from without entereth into the man, it cannot defile him;

why?

19: Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

because it entereth in not into the mind.

20: And he said, That which cometh out of the man, that defileth the man.

what comes out of the mind this is which defileth a man?

21: For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed evil thoughts, adulteries, fornications, murders,

now what Jesus is talking about is made clear.

22: Thefts, covetousness, wickedness, deceit, lasciviousness, an evil eye, blasphemy, pride, foolishness:

23: All these evil things come from within, and defile the man.

LH do these things come from the heart or the belly?

Moving on to 1Tim 4, 3 They will say it is wrong to be married and wrong to eat certain foods. But God created those foods to be eaten with thanks by faithful people who know the truth. 4 Since everything God created is good, we should not reject any of it but receive it with thanks. 5 For we know it is made acceptable[b] by the word of God and prayer.

Now chonologicaly Jesus overwrites the dietary law. So yes, I will turn to Jesus' own words and not be condemned by what I eat.

where did God make whats acceptable for man to eat? in Lev11

the KJV said 1Tm 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

accpetable don't mean separate or set apart
sanctified means separate or set apart.

where was it sacntified? in Leveticus 11.

Once again, I ask, why don't you include these verses when I ask about "dietary laws"

you just ask and I just asnswered.

Hi Natalie, I looked into gal 1:6-9. I notice paul is pretty ruffled about Galations following Gospel other than the Gospel of Christ, or a perverted gospel of Christ.

Any idea what would be other than the "Gospel of Christ"?

I'm just looking for a personal opinion.

Christ Jesus being the WORD of GOD is the whole bible, not just the new testament. If it were, Jesus wouldn't have sent us to it so many times, nor would any of it continue to be in existence today. GOD has put it there for a reason and it is for us to read and learn from.

The new testament authors all claim that no one will enter the kingdom without holiness. How do we know what holiness is without looking at the life of Christ Jesus? Seeking to see if HE is who HE claims to be by looking in the old testament.

John 7:16-19 Jesus answered, "My teaching is not my own. It comes from him who sent me. If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. He who speaks on his own does so to gain honor for himself, but he who works for the honor of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him."

Christ Jesus came with the message to turn GOD's people back to HIM. He has offered eternal life to those who repent of their sins.

In answer to your question it woud be those who deny that Christ Jesus has come in the flesh.

Hebrews 8:3-10 Every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices, and so it was necessary for this one also to have something to offer. If he were on earth, he would not be a priest, for there are already men who offer the gifts prescribed by the law. They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven. This is why Moses was warned when he was about to build the tabernacle: "See to it that you make everything according to the pattern shown you on the mountain." But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which he is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises. For if there had been nothing wrong with that first covenant, no place would have been sought for another. But God found fault with the people and said: "The time is coming, declares the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they did not remain faithful to my covenant, and I turned away from them, declares the Lord. This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time, declares the Lord. I will put my laws in their minds and write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.

These laws are the same laws as those found in the Torah. Without the Torah man would not know what sin is. But we do, it is there in black in white. What Jesus offers us now is attonement for repented sin. He is our High Priest. He does not and will not offer attonement for unrepented sins.

Isaiah 53:12 Therefore I will give him a portion among the great, and he will divide the spoils with the strong, because he poured out his life unto death, and was numbered with the transgressors. For he bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

Bible Dictionary: Intercession

Sin of many and not all. But Christ Jesus is and will always be our intercessor. The one we go to for forgiveness of sin. He interceeds with the FATHER on our behalf.

Romans 2:12-13 All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. For it is not those who hear the law who are righteous in God's sight, but it is those who obey the law who will be declared righteous.

All who sin will perish, but those who sin under the law (even Christ Jesus) will be judged by the law.

John 12:47-48 "As for the person who hears my words but does not keep them, I do not judge him. For I did not come to judge the world, but to save it. There is a judge for the one who rejects me and does not accept my words; that very word which I spoke will condemn him at the last day."

The man Jesus did not have power to judge here on this earth. But be certain of the fact that the WORD of GOD will be the judge in the end.

The isrealites couldn't bear to be in the presence of GOD out of fear. So GOD promised the comming of Jesus.

Dueteronomy 18:18-19 I will raise up for them a prophet like you from among their brothers; I will put my words in his mouth, and he will tell them everything I command him. If anyone does not listen to my words that the prophet speaks in my name, I myself will call him to account.

This is the WORD of GOD and the ONE who will judge all mankind in the end.

Hebrews 10:31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

There are a lot of verses that I am going to talk about here, so I will give some to you to read for yourself to consider whether what I am saying is true or not.

Hebrews 10:1-39
Ephesians 2:15,16
II Corinthians 3:1-18

The first verse to consider is Hebrews 10:1. The old testament was written as a physical example of the spiritual that was to come, and not the actual thing that we live by since Christ died and rose again.

II Corinthians 3:3-6
God has made us ministers of the NEW testament, NOT of the old. We are now ministers of the Spirit, not of the things that are written in ink, or in stone. If we live by the Old Testament, it condemns us to death. But the New and Living Way (Hebrews 10:20) consecrates us. It is the Spirit of God living within us that we follow/live by, not what is written.

Hebrews 10:2-3
If we are sanctified by the Spirit of God we are no longer condemned. "There is now therefore NO condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus". If we feel condemned, it is because we live by a law, or a rule, that is written, instead of living by the Spirit of God within us. God does not condemn His children. He convicts us, which means He causes us to turn away from evil and toward His ways. If it causes us to turn toward God, it is conviction. If we have the Spirit of God in us, and we feel condemned for what we did, it is not of God. The Spirit promises LIFE, not death.

If we have the Spirit within us and we sin, are we condemned? NO! Because we have a Mediator, Jesus Christ. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." We will never be perfect until Christ takes us home to heaven. "But we all...are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." The Spirit changes us little by little as we grow in the Spirit.

II Corinthians 3:13-16
The children of Israel could not look on Moses beccause the glory that shown on his face was going to fade away. Those that are blind still live by the old way, but when their heart is turned toward the Lord, the vail is taken away. The old prevents us from truly seeing the NEW! When we understand that salvation is a free gift from God by putting our trust in Jesus Christ's sacrifice for us, our eyes are opened to the truth. But, if we believe we have to live by certain laws and rules, we will not know the truth. We are not saved because we live by laws and rules, we are saved because the Spirit bears witness within us that we belong to Him. And, we can only belong to Him when we put our trust in Jesus' sacrifice, and not because of what WE do. Paul said if you have begun in the Spirit, continue to live in the Spirit. We can never live a righteous life in God's sight by the things that we do, no matter how good they seem! Only by obeying the Word of God written WITHIN us, written on our hearts, and relayed to us by the Spirit of God living within us, can we do the things that please God.

We cannot live by the Old way and the New way. If we live by the old, then we do not live by grace. Grace (free gift) requires only FAITH, not works! If we have the Spirit of God within us and we are obeying the Spirit of God, it is God within us doing the works of righteousness through us and not we ourselves! "In Him we live and move and have our being."
"It is not of ourselves, lest any man should boast." Those who think they are saved because of what they do or don't do have something to boast about. (Even though it is a false belief.) But, those who are saved by trusting Jesus Christ as their salvation have nothing to boast about, except for the goodness of God! If we know the grace of God, we lift HIM up, and not ourselves and our own works. As Paul says, it is not I, but Christ that lives in me.

Matthew 5:17 Yes, Jesus came to fulfill the law. And, it is FINISHED! He finished it at the cross! We do not throw away the old testament because it is a witness of what was to come later....which is the New and Living Way. The old testament is a physical witness of the spiritual that was to come...which is Christ Jesus' death and resurrection...which is the message of God's plan of salvation...which is received by faith (entrusting one's entire being) in the works of Jesus Christ, and not entrusting our salvation into our own works of righteousnes.

Hebrews 13:8 Is Jesus the same today as yesterday? Yes, but that means He has the same character and intentions and purpose. But, that doesn't mean He doesn't change THINGS! "Behold, I do a NEW thing." And, "...there is no more offering for sin...by a NEW and living way.." (Hebrews 10:18-20) Also, the Bible tells us that tongues and prophesy shall pass away. So, God DOES change things, although His character and purposes do not change.

Hebrews 10:1-39
Ephesians 2:15,16
II Corinthians 3:1-18

The first verse to consider is Hebrews 10:1. The old testament was written as a physical example of the spiritual that was to come, and not the actual thing that we live by since Christ died and rose again.

Hebrews 10:1 The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming--not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.

ie they are not come yet. This was written long after Christ's death and resurrection.

This is the context by which I read the whole chapter.

The sacrifices alone are what We are no longer under, because Christ Jesus is our High Priest in Heaven.

This statement denies that the OT laws are from GOD. The old covenant represented by the sign of circumcision of the flesh and the laws being supervised by men, has been replace by the new covenant of Christ Jesus, circumcision of heart/mind, whose supervision is now by the Holy Spirit. The laws have not changed, only the sign of the covenants.

Hebrews 10:19-20 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body,

This new covenant allows us to enter the Most Holy Place through our High Priest: Christ Jesus.

We will never be perfect until Christ takes us home to heaven. "But we all...are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord." The Spirit changes us little by little as we grow in the Spirit.

It were the sacrifices that were an annual reminder of sin, not the laws. But I agree with your statements on the purpose of the Holy Spirit. The law and the word of GOD both old and new convicts us of wrong, for it is all the WORD of GOD.

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

There are those who saw the new, while being under the old. It is our resistence to truth that keeps us from seeing it. They longed for it because they were only witness to the prophecy and not the reality.

Again these are the same laws in OT that our written on our hearts and minds.

Ezekiel 11:19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.

Jeremiah 31:33 "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people".

Isaiah 51:4-5 "Listen to me, my people; hear me, my nation: The law will go out from me; my justice will become a light to the nations. My righteousness draws near speedily, my salvation is on the way, and my arm will bring justice to the nations. The islands will look to me and wait in hope for my arm."

Matthew 13:17 For I tell you the truth, many prophets and righteous men longed to see what you see but did not see it, and to hear what you hear but did not hear it.

It is a new way this is true, but both ways have the same laws. Grace does not require only Faith. It is only by Faith that we can continue in Grace. And Faith in GOD will produce works of HIS righteousness. We do not think we are saved by what we do, we know that our works are done only to HONOR GOD.

Dueteronomy 30:6 The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.

What you are teaching by "Grace" only is that it is okay for people to go out and steal and kill and cheat and lie, as long as they believe GOD exists.

This is a LIE ............ GOD will never forgive those who do not turn to Love HIM with all their heart and all their souls and repent of their sins.

By resistence to HIS LAWS we prove that we do not love HIM with all our heart, and souls. Our action of repentance is what shows HIM that we love HIM with all our heart and soul.

Acts 5:31 God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might give repentance and forgiveness of sins to Israel.

Being the WORD of GOD he gives to us not only forgiveness but repentance as well.

I never said you could go and steal and kill, etc. I said that there is no power in following these written rules, but the power is in the Holy Spirit living within us. If we live by the Spirit we will not live an unrighteous life. But, just because you follow rules and laws, that don't save you. You are saved by believing in the free gift of salvation, and the power of God living in you gives you the power to live right. If you do wrong, the Spirit turns you to the right way (repent means to turn). If you do wrong, and you don't have the Spirit of God living in you, you don't have the power to turn toward what is right. The law will condemn you when you sin, BUT God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, will turn us toward what is right. But, the law itself has NO power! The power to give life, or to give death, is in Jesus Christ by the Holy Spirit living within us. Jesus said, "Depart from me for I never knew you" to those who thought that their good works and deeds were proof that they should enter heaven. But, "Ye are saved by grace (free gift) through faith (entrusting one's entire being to Christ Jesus), and it has nothing to do with yourself, lest any man has a reason to boast(brag, feel worthy of, earn, merit, credit, buy, trade) , it is a FREE gift." (revised)

In the old testament the laws were written in ink and stone, but now they are written on our hearts through the Holy Spirit. You MUST obey the Spirit of God, who is NOW the law of righteousness. We are not resisting the old law, we are just living God's law by a NEW power, the Holy Spirit...the law of righteousness. The Holy Spirit did not live within man in the old testament. Not until Jesus returned to heaven and sent the Holy Spirit to live in us. Christ Himself IS THE POWER, and He imparts that same power to us by the Holy Spirit living within us.

Also, the Bible tells us that tongues and prophesy shall pass away. So, God DOES change things, although His character and purposes do not change.

The bible says this because when the age to come is here there will be no need for tongues or prophesy because:

Ezekiel 48:35 ..... "And the name of the city from that time on will be: "The Lord is There"

Revelation 21:3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God."

Just a question, are we not all priests?

I do not think that we are. There are 12 tribes of Isreal and not all of them were priest, but only one tribe and that of Levi. The laws in OT mostly speak to the Levites, but many speak to all of the tribes. We may all be saints/disciples, but I do not believe we are all empowered to be preachers/priests.

If you can show me scripture for me to believe otherwise, I would encourage it, because if I am wrong, I am in big trouble.

Read Revelation 1:6 for it says that we are kings and priests. Another thought, we are all preachers as we are all commanded to spread the giospel and if you notice that is not mentioned as a ministry gift. We are empowered by the Holy Spirit with other gifts so that we may preach the Word with power and authority and with signs following.

Jesus said, "Depart from me for I never knew you" to those who thought that their good works and deeds were proof that they should enter heaven.

Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles?' Then I will tell them plainly, "'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'"

Will the evil doers honestly be the ones who live by GOD's Laws? Wether by the written word or the spirit? They are all GOD's laws. Jesus is speaking of those who hear the word but do not put it into practice.

Please show me biblically where it says that the Holy Spirit is now the "law of righteousness".

I do not agree at all with this, The Holy Spirit lived within man in the old testament as well, it is now just more abundant.

Matthew 22:42-44 "What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?" "The son of David," they replied. He said to them, "How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him 'Lord'? For he says, "'The Lord said to my Lord: "Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet."'

Did not Jesus himself claim that David spoke by the spirit?

In the Old the spirit came down upon but did not dwell within, only after Jesus did the Holy Spirit reside within.

Hebrews 10:1 The law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming--not the realities themselves. For this reason it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.

They HAVE already come! Verse 10 tells us that! " We are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." "For by ONE offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified. "By a NEW and living way..." These things have already happened! It is FINISHED! What is left to come?

Remember the temple is within us and the Holy Place as well. We are responsible as a priest for our temple although I think the meaning goes far beyond that.

If you want to take it to that point then we are really only gaurdians of our own bodies which is true. The Kingdom of GOD is in us, or the reality to see it is. Our bodies are where the Holy Spirit resides, but we are not priests in the biblical sense who administer judgement and justice to others. Christ Jesus is our High Priest. Just because GOD is our Father, doesn't make us equal to HIM, does it? Just because the Holy Spirit is in us, it doesn't make us the Holy Spirit either. But yes, I agree we must all be accountable for our own bodies that house the Holy Spirit.

Let me ask you something. It ssays we will rule and reign with Christ, what will be ruling and reigning over? Yes Christ will be the KING but we will also have aithority under Him. Yes, God is our Father but that makes us sons and daughters and as part of the family if we fiollow the family rules we can expect to be treated as part of the family with rights and responsibilities thereof.
