  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

For my youtube channel, I was looking to gather some information about how the majority of Christians view the end times. so I wanted to create this poll.

Here are what the choices mean for the unaware:
Futurism: Most of Bible prophecy has not been fulfilled yet and will be in the last days.
Preterism: Most of Bible prophecy was fulfilled in the 1st century with the fall of the Jewish temple in 70 AD
Idealism: There is no specific fulfillment, rather Revelation is more about the timeless struggle between good and evil which will end at the Second Coming.
Historicism: Bible prophecy is like a history book, starting from the time of Jesus to the end times. Most people in this camp tend to identify the Pope as the Beast.

Here's the link to my channel called Rational Journey Through Revelation for the curious.

I really don't know quite what category that I fit in. I regard the apocalyptic expectations of the early church to be a huge mistake --- both then and now. I do not believe that it is intellectually, spiritually or even emotionally healthy to live our lives in constant expectation of the end times. We should live our lives optimistically with a view to making this world a better place not just today or tomorrow but into the far distant future.

I chose "mixture" because I could not strictly choose any other option.
I agree with Jack's last sentence, but I don't entirely agree with his sentence immediately before that.

I believe that intellectually, spiritually, and emotionally, I am in good shape (sometimes I doubt the first one), and while I am not constantly expecting the rapture, I am looking forward to it (if it comes in my life time), otherwise I look forward to meeting Jesus, and being in His presence.

True. The early church had a rather odd view of things. I would say your view fits best within idealism as it is not truly concerned with individual apocalyptic expectations but rather the overall battle of good and evil and living our Christian lives while improving the world around us.

Preterism for reasons more fully detailed at http://www.tektonics.org/eschhub.html

The thing about Preterism is it doesn't necessarily rule out some form of dual fulfillment. But it doesn't require very much to occur in the future either.

EDIT- I originally finished this post off with something perhaps provocative to some people. I'll instead say that Preterism is the only End Time model I've found so far that I find at all persuasive. Others are welcome to their own opinions but Preterism is the only model that sounds logical to me.
