• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is your problem?

It is much more comfortable to just think that they are hostile to God or hostile to YEC's personally, all due to some internal "issues".

Don't a lot of YEC's believe that to be anti YEC is to be anti God? If people come out against what they believe then that is just persecution? After all, the Bible says to expect to be persecuted for your beliefs.

Oh, sure, that is exactly what a lot of YEC's believe, and yes, that is why they feel persecuted. But the point is that it is not true. Some who oppose YEC'ism also happen to be anti God, but that is irrelevant since not all who oppose YEC'ism are anti-God by a long shot.

In fact, most of those who are very PRO God (meaning the Christian community) are anti-YEC.

And I do think that a lot of YECs take a certain satisfaction out of believing that they are "fighting the good fight" or are even being persecuted for their righteous beliefs. What they seem to forget is that people can face intense opposition, even persecution, even when they are wrong.

After all, it is not:

1. God said to expect to be persecuted for your beliefs when you speak God's Truth.

2. Therefore, if you are being persecuted for your beliefs, it is because you are speaking God's truth.

This is obviously not always true.

I think the general irritation (guessing) is because you act like you have figured it out and have found the answers to the mysteries of the Universe but the rest of us are just too stupid to see it.

Not really "stupid". But if your not born again, then your not a new creation in Christ and you do not have the mind that God intended for man and women to have. Jesus came to restore all the Adam and Eve lost.

Rememer the list I showed you before of some of the different things that make up the mind of Christ?

The question is, how hard do you work on your outward appearance, compared to how much time do you put in to be sure that your heart is right before God?

In otherwords, do you work hard to look good for men and women, or do you work hard to find favor with God?

Always trying to impress someone, aren't you JohnR7? You can't even imagine anyone who isn't.

The only person I try to impress is myself. I have to live with me, there is no getting away from myself. So I have found that I get along a lot better with myself when I like me. If there are areas I feel I want to change, then God is always there ready, willing and able to help me.

I do no work at all for God.

I work for God. Even when I was doing construction work, I did my work so as to please God. When I finish my life's work, as a Christian we all want to hear: "Well done". That is our objective and our goal.

I do not think there are a lot of people who have a problem with God. But I know that there are some that do. Almost as if they think they can run the universe better than He can.
And these people are not atheists. QED.

Sorta. We are GAP. We believe in the old world, but that it came to an end and God started all over again with the world we live in now.

What was this 'old world' of yours like? Was it populated with animals? people?

Why did God decide to start again? Why didn't he get it right first time?

God left us with the natural record to study the old world. Fossils, geology and so forth. There is not a lot in the Bible about it.

Why did God decide to start again? Why didn't he get it right first time?

If you study the record, things tend to go from simple to complex. One age or dispensation has to come to an end, for the next one to begin.

Well, to be honest, I do not put to much thought into "looking good for men and women", I am happily married and I look how I look. How I look may be a also a product of the fact that I eat right and exercise. But I do not obsess about what men or women think I look like..I do not have that much time to worry about what other people think and frankly I could care less. If I was single and still out in the dating world than my motives may be different. I exercise now for health reason. I live my life. I try not to hurt other people and I help when I can. If their is a God I am sure he will be aware of that..if not than I lived a good life while I was here.
