What is your primary reason for sharing the Gospel with the lost?

We've been studying this in my weekly Bible study and I thought it would be fun to discuss it here too.

There are multiple reasons for sharing the Gospel, but what I would like to know is what you consider to be the primary purpose for sharing the Gospel.

Because when the Gospel is preached in the power of the Spirit there is no indifference to it, it either breaks the heart and produces faith or hardens it. The preaching of the Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to all who believe. Because God has a people in the world called sinners whom He has chosen and redeemed by Christ we preach the Gospel to all, believing and resting assured He will call them by His Gospel. Since the Gospel is the entire revealtion of the Word of God in the person and work of Christ it lifts Him up for all to see and magnifies Him before men. Knowing our own condition in the flash and the the remedy in Christ we desire that men may know Him who is salvation as we do and that they might also be saved. We preach the Gospel because our hearts are full and we have the joy and peace that passes understanding. Seeing the world lie in ruin and misery we want to bring comfort to those who are hurting and peace to those who are in turmoil. Having experienced the compassion of our great God and Savior we have compassion on others. And finally, we are commanded to do it.

In my mind this has alway been a question that I will never understand. Does what we say have any real under standing to the lost, OR is the answer the Spirit first has to draw the person to what we say??

Does God keep some blind and choose other to see. Is what we preach have any effect on the blind?
Remember when Jesus raised Lazarus and 11:45 many believed? It is verse 46 says BUT some went their way to the Pharisees.
Many in my years have told me if only they could see some one raised from the dead, they would then believe.
BUT would they? Yes I would share the word with any one who would listen, but in the back of my mind I feel that Unless God opens there Heart nothing would happen.
Remember Paul? He had to be around when Jesus was and Paul new the word, But he killed Christians until God Stopped him on the road.
What do you think?

Excellent answers, everyone!
I will add that it is because it glorifies God when we share the Gospel.

You are contrasting the outward call and the inward call. Both are very important. We are privileged to be vessels God usees for the outward call. But it is God alone who makes the inward call to those He has chosen. Who that is, we cannot know. And so we share the Gospel with love and compassion to all, trusting in Him to work in and through us to His glory. We can have absolute faith in that.

Yes you are correct in everything you say and I deeply respect you.
When I was younger I would tell God that I was not worthy, but Sue and Bill, Kathy and Tom are much better then I, but what ever I say they will not hear me. It is funny how we see people on the outside and forget that God is looking on the in ward parts of Man.

Anyone who comes to me will hear the Words Of God in time. At my age I tend to allow God to open the door instead of me knocking. Oh my heart wishes that all will come to God, but I know that it is not true.

Since I am to sick to drive I take a county bus and two of the drivers are JW's. Each week I share a verse and ask her what it means to her. She gives me the JW, version, but each verse is to make her think. She is asking me now.

Showing love is what Jesus did and I feel that showing that love can open a heart of stone. You are correct that we don't know who and that God's love should be given to all and let Him open the door.

Rom 10:8 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;
Rom 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
Rom 10:10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Rom 10:11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed.
Rom 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.
Rom 10:13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Rom 10:14 How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
Rom 10:15 And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!

Romans 8:28 Teaching others is one of the things that I can do for my own good. It is a privilege and honor to allow the indwelling Spirit to work through me in serving others. It is a command for my good. It is a growing experience and I enjoy it. The results can make me said but they are not what I am after, just ceasing the opportunity is wonderful.

My primary purpose............... i think about how i was saved because someone took a step out of their comfort zone to walk up to me (a complete stranger) and share the gospel. Imagine if at the last second they chickened out and later that day i had died. I would be be in hell. So my primary purpose is fear, fear for the lost because they don't know how important sin is, and fear of the Lord cause he told me to go out into all the world and preach the gospel to every person.

The primary reason is that as a Christian we love our neighbor as ourselves. This means we want them to be saved. This is the love Christ displayed by dying for his people, so they would be saved. God saves through His Word (Romans 10:17, I Thessalonians 2:13). This is why we share the gospel. We get the word out and if it falls on the ears of one that God chose to save then that person will respond (John 10:5) and grow in grace.

Thank God for His Word and mercy!
