  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

The combination of circles and triangles really works for me in this Kandinsky painting

You're right. I like it. I can never explain why I like one abstract artwork and not another. Some are just visually appealing and some aren't.

Well, there are a few cases where I could identify why. My college roommate was an art major and introduced me to Salvador Dali. I loved his work - so much so that I bought his autobiography. That guy was cracked - seriously disturbed. It ruined my love of his work.

Then there's Mark Rothko. I thought his stuff was stupid until I saw the PBS special: Red. So, there is an associative character to it. It also gave me an appreciation for Alfred Molina. I never thought much of him as an actor, but he was spectacular in Red.

I had to end the list somewhere. Would you like to explain the reason for your choice? The thought that popped into my head was somewhat salacious.
That was the thought that was supposed to pop into your head, although I wouldn't want to go to the extreme of being actually salacious. ;)

However, it also did occur to me that the list is of standard geometric shapes, and many people would probably find less angular ones more appealing. For example, teardrop shapes, the infinity symbol, yin and yang, and so on. Of course I appreciate that yours is a long list already.

Yep. The culture and psychology of it would be a fun topic. Why does Japanese architecture look Japanese and Ottoman look Ottoman? ... fit, form, and function.

You left off parallelogram. That's my favorite. I don't know why, I guess it's got a sort of sleek look. And was gratuitously mentioned in the song Motorhead, which is kinda weird.

LOL, I suspect you're on track. At 75 and having left the station, moving toward Station 76, from the time around my fifteenth my favorite shape has been and as a sexless people watcher, my favorite shape is the shape, much like the Hour Glass that is best portrayed by the Female Body after it has delivered life into this world and the New Mother has strained not to go Fat. My one Grand Daughter has delivered twice and wanting to be a great wife and mother has her y9oung man's agreement to adopt a few more.

She is a Christ-Like Woman that loves her man and the children of this world. Yep, the hourglass!

You parallelogram guys are always looking down your planes at us trapezoids and acting so superior. So you've got symmetry...big deal!
