  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

As high speed internet is becomming cheaper, easier to get, and more convenient it is inevitable that more and more will use it. Espcially since so many services and websites almost require a broadband connection to fucntion properly. (i.e. xbox live, graphic intensive sites, legal music downloading, video chat) Its has more been forced apon the masses rather then chosen. Then we have a generation that has grown up with computers and associated technology so the want of a faster connection plays a part as well. Moreover people now spend more time on the internet then watching TV (I don't remember where I found that statistic if anyone would like me to look it up let me know) So the internet has become a huge part of the average person's life (for good or bad) So speed has a big issue. Who wants to spend 10 min loading every page? I seem to be rambling more then needed so I'll leave with that.

I connect at 26.4 I live out of town 3 miles on a 4 lane highway. There is a junction station about a tenth of a mile at the corner of the 3rd mile away from town that has fiber optic ran to it. All they have to do is put in some equipment and I could have DSL...They keep saying they are gonna do it...but I still have dialup... grrrr...

On average I download stuff around 2.5-3 Kbps...

It all depends on your area, if alot of people have cable on your street then you are going to get a slower speed, if alot of people on your street have dsl it doesn't effect the speed. For me, I have cable, there are only 3 people on the server I'm on so I get maximum speed 3.5mbps, with dsl I'd only get 768kbps. If more people on my street had cable, I'd probably switch to dsl so I'd have the dedicated line because my 3.5mbps on cable would be alot slower and it wouldn't be worth the extra money. Now that I've confused myself in sheer exaustion, I'm going to bed
