So im not sure where to ask this question... but i think this can be a good discussion question.

What is the very first act of Worship from man?

Im not talking about the first time worship is mentioned in the bible, Which i believe is in genesis where Abraham is to go sacrifice his son to God, but i want to know what the first action of worship is.

by worship, i mean what you and i as christians acknowledge and give praise to God. There is a lot more to worship than what i am explaining.

I agree with the other posters that worship started with adam or both adam and eve.

I think of Adam giving names to the animals of the earth as worship to god... But i am not sure if that may be called the first act of worship. When god tells me to do something, i am happily going about doing the assigned work and because of that, i think of it as worshipping the lord. I acknowledge that he is the one who sent me to do this work.

I have been learning to think outside of the box on some things in my life and thought this would be a good place to get some input.

how do you guys define worship?

I consider any work for the lord to be worship. Acknowledging him in everything i do is also considered worship for me.

My definition is to ascribe worth to, if we are going to the very first worship, I would have to say that it is unknown, but in known history, it would have to be with the angels...

For me, worship consists of listening, then doing. Listening is much harder than the latter, because it means I need to get past an internal barrage of thoughts, worries and musings in order to hear that small, still Voice.

We may never know with certainty what the first unrecorded act of worship was, but somehow I suspect that listening was involved.

"He that hath ears to hear, let him hear...."

good answers...

What do you think the first act of worship in the bible was? i would just like some verses and examples from the bible.

I thought i had known what it was but i was thinking something else.
as to the traditional understanding of worship, I am with my husband, I can't think of anything before Cain and Abel....I think that Adam and Eve worshiped God every day except when they sinned, but as far as a traditional, church understanding, got to go with Cain and Abel at this point.

I think the very first act of worship (meaning obeying God) we see was when Adam named the animals...Genesis 2 but if that doesn't work, we also see Cain and Able giving grain and animal offering to God in Genesis 4, though I'm not sure if we consider Cain's offering "worship".

If worship is simply showing one's devotion to a certain deity or god, then the first act of worship recorded in the Bible might be Adam's tending of the garden.

If worship is more closely defined as a cultic or "religious" activity, then the sacrifices of Cain and Abel would be first.
