<I have yet to find where the EO's show the Assumption as dogma,>
Fr. Rob replies:
Most books I have read state that it is a pious opinion or thought.
Jukes continued:
<But I found the following to show they do believe that Mary was assumed into Heaven. Is this what you mean as a holy thought rather than their faithful being required to believe?>
Fr. Rob replies:
Indeed most EO's believe that she was, though at least one of the EO Priests here in Indianapolis does not believe that Mary was assumed, because there are writings from the Early Church that state that no-one is in heaven, save God and the angels.
A holy or pious thougt or opinion is defined as a theological or devotional thought that is held by an individual or even by many individuals, but which is not required to be held for salvation.
Hope this is helpful.
