What is the Soul?

The definition of NEPHESH, the word translated "soul" is found in the Hebrew lexicon, or by a study of how the word is used in the text.
You don't find the definition inside your head!
Most of the definitions given by people on this thread are their own invented definitions.
The definition of "soul" (NEPHESH) is not what you "think' it is or what your denomination says it is. It is not "mind" or "spirit." These are different Greek and Hebrew words which do NOT mean the same as NEPHESH or
PSUCHE.
To understand the Bible it is necessary to DEFINE WORDS CORRECTLY. To do this one must follow the RULES AND REGULATIONS pertaining to that study. One must have and use the reference books associated with this.
In reading the Bible, it is necessary to observe the CONTEXT, and it also should not be necessary to say that INDIVIDUAL, INDEPENDENT study should be done. One should not depend on what some "commentator" says, no matter how "popular" that person might be.
God will never ask you what someone else believes.

Lots of good reading here in this thread. The body is of this earth, it is satisified with the things of this world, and it will return to the earth. If we are saved, then at the resurrection, the body will be glorified and live forever. That resurrection power of God is already at work in us to prepare us for that day.

The soul comes from God, and it is only satisified with the things of God. The things of this world do not satisify the soul. That is why worldly people are discontent. That is why only christians can be truely content and satisified.

The Spirit comes from God. When we are born again, we receive the Spirit of God along with divine thoughts, and God's divine attitute. The Holy Spirit of God, then continues to do a work in our lives to teach, guide, lead, help us in the way of salvation. Daily He does a work in our life. Today is the say of salvation. Every day God bakes up a fresh new loaf of bread for us. It has all we need, all the life, health, healing, all the strength we need to live a life of victory as an overcomer.

>>Adam and Eve ate of the tree God had planned for us to live free of labor, in pretty much paradise.

Adam was put there to tend the Garden of God in Eden. We now have Eden on the inside of us. It is up to us to conquer this world for God. It is through us, that the kingdoms of this world, will become the Kingdoms of God. The Bride will be fierce and there will be nothing that can stop her. She will conquer nearly half this world for God, and one third of the people will ultimately end up saved. Actually, the Angels will do most of the work, but the Bride will work along with the Angels. A good type of the Bride is Ruth, when she is gleaning the fields. When Boez men, (the Angels) throw her hand fulls on purpose. This serves to strengthen and encourage her in her work.

The Bride is called out from a called out people. She will make up 11% of the world population. She is from all tongues, tribes, nations and people. The Bride will be united in purpose and intent. She will be of one mind and one accord, because she will have the mind of Christ, the divine thoughts of God and the Jesus attitude. Thanks, JohnR7
