Our curent security measures are more than adequate. If you're asking me for something extra, I'd say stop the media blowing it all out of proportion. The entire point of terrorism is to make a big statement. If the media toned it way down, and focused on things in a more rational fashion, we'd see fewer terrorist attacks than we have now.

ISIS wants you to panic and not let in Syrian refugees so that they can kill them all. They want you to be afraid, because that's how they gain their power.

But ISIS, or as I would prefer to call them, Daesh... they're weak, honey. Most of their power comes from fear. Remove the fear, and the battle is already half-won. They'll stop getting new recruits, their efforts will become ultimately pointless, and as such they will die out.
