Isn't all of existence suffering?

No.

Even joy is temporary, leaving suffering in its wake.

Suffering is temporary, leaving joy in its wake.

Life inevitably leads to death, grief, and sorrow.

How negative. While joy might not be inevitable, life certainly encompasses this no less.

Do you not think it is possible to contact that which is outside of our existence?

I don't know if it is possible, but I very much doubt it. And even if we can and do contact something or some being we would be limited in our ability to objectively prove it.

Consider Flat World. A 2 dimensional being would have a hard time comprehending 3d. Within their handing and ability to prove things the 3rd dimension is unprovable, though less than conclusive evidence could be derived. I could pass a sphere through Flat World and it would be a growing then shrinking circle. How would they know if it is a circle or interaction with anything beyond? They can't.

The term "existence" presumably refers to all of existence, not just to "our" existence.

If you mean "our" existence, what is it that you are referring to? Do you mean the physical universe? Or what?

And what other existence do you think is outside of that?

eudaimonia,

Mark
I mean "our" existence. It is the only one accessible to us. Even if you accept an after life, that existence is separate and requires your destruction in this existence.

In a sense, the 2d world would be in contact with the 3d world, in terms that they understand (slices).
