I'm not sure, to be exact. I'm familiar with SB beliefs, but the only Independent Baptist church I'm familiar with is Bob Jones' church at Bob Jones University. I'm not sure if they are a typical IB church or not.

Each baptist church is an independent entity because of congregationalism. However, many baptist churches form loose associations sometimes called conventions. The largest is the Southern Baptist Convention.

At one point in American history, almost all Baptists in the US were united by the General Missionary Convention of the Baptist Denomination in the United States of America for Foreign Missions (what a mouthful) started in 1814. In 1845, the North and South split and the Southern Baptist Convention was formed. One of the main issues of diagreement with the North was the issue of slavery that the SBC supported as biblical. Most of the other major denominations also split over this issue but later reconciled. SBC churches have since apologized for their position on slavery in 1995.

In my part of the world, Baptist churches are plentiful.

Southern, missionary, independent... you name it... lol

But the southern baptists always have the biggest churches/memberships, have the nicer buildings, landscape and a nicer selection of cars in the lot lol

But when i lived in Indiana, there was one single Southern baptist church even remotely within reasonable driving distance. It was tiny, small membership, and pretty much was the smallest in the area, lol.... talk about culture shock!

The SBC is the one true Holy and apostolic church

baptists pretty much believe the same thing, SBC or ABC some groups are a bit more liberal and allow women to pastor if your into that sort of thing among other things. Other than that I dont know. Im pretty sure all Baptists love to eat...
