  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

What is the difference between rebuking and binding?

And could you give me some scriptures to study on this too so I can better understand it please? I just rebuke them...when I tried praying the prayers I had in a book on Spiritural warfare on binding the demons it did not work. When I read on here about spiritual warfare I see people doing both, but I don't understand what the difference is between them.

Also is there a name to an evil spirit that causes nightmares or dreams that distrube the sleep? While my son is much much better and healed in so many ways, he is still bothered by nightmares. Not every night, the used to come about every other month or so going on for two or three or more nights in a row. It can take him hours to get back to sleep too...then he has to get up early to go to school :(

Here lately he has been having them again and I try to remember to reburke them in Jesus' Name (the nightmares) before I go to bed but I forgot too last night and he had another one. :( We do the Lord Prayer every night after he gets in bed (he sleeps on a mat in my room) and he has me pray no bad dreams every night too. poor kid. The nightmares used to be much much worse, but while they are better, they still haven't let go entirely and he worries about having them. I sure feel bad for him.

The nightmares and his fear of sleeping in his own room are the only things that seem to be hanging on with him. I did fasting and prayer to break the hold anxiety and fear had on him and it did help greatly...he is not totally crippled by these things like he used to be...but its also not completely gone. I am not sure what esle to do.

God bless

whitestar,

The differences between rebuking and binding I believe would be the difference between "yelling "get out"" vs "kicking out".

Instead of resigning to doing this on a daily basis for the rest of your life, it is important to find out the source of the problem and make it leave. Also, start teaching your son the Word, so he can learn to overcome on his own.

I'm sure though that there is more detailed info that possibly didaskalos or victoryword could give you. I will look around though and see what I can find. God bless you whitestar

Yes follower actually it is a bit of a court battle. The devil and God are in a major custody battle over all of mankind. And God grants the devil permission if there is sin, unforgiveness in our lives to afflict us. ALso like JOb God loves to test us and teach us. Very nicely put. It is indeed a court case.

whitestar....

I was listening to American Family Radio this morning and their discussion would have been very interesting to you I think.

Their guest was Eddie Smith who wrote the book 'Spiritual House Cleaning'.

http://afr.spreadtheword.com/store/comersus_viewitem.asp?ISBN=0830731075&Cat0=780

The things he said seemed practical as well as spiritual. He talked about removing things from your home.... like gifts from former girl/boyfriends, removing artwork that may have negative spiritual connotations (like Buddah statues or Native American art that deals specifically with traditional native religions)... he even gave an example of some artist who is a Shamen (sp?) who prays a spirit guide or something of that effect into each of his paintings... one family had one and their son was seeing a ghost like wolf roaming their house at night... until they learned about the Shamen's intentions and removed the painting... the wolf form never returned again. It was interesting... maybe the books would be of interest to you? I haven't read it, but the discussion was interesting. The archive of todays show should be available next week... I'll post the link then if you'd like to listen to it :)

Ok thanks...I have done a spiritual house cleaning for sure! You can read that in my post on Spiritual Warfare for children that I did on here...I got rid of tons and tons of stuff that I hadn't been aware of before that was a problem. I was instructed to do this before I even started trying to reburke this evil spirits bothering my son...and it has worked...a HUGE HUGE change in him too.

The change in him has been very dramic and happened very quickly too....its just we have been stuck on these two things.

Let me explain a bit more that might help....we did move to a new house (well its not new, just new to us), last June and no I have not put oil above the doors or windows...the blessed oil I was using got lost in the move...there wasn't much left...so I guess I need to get some oil...I just hope I can remember what kind to get.

Back at the other house is was almost 100 yrs old and creepy at times. :( But my son's fears came from his dad who was abusive to us both, even after I left him. Without making this a book...(alot of it is in my other post anyway) when my son was probably around three or so, he started becoming very afraid of his room. I found out later his dad told him if he slept in his room a bad man would break the window, get him and kill him...:(

I know terrible. Just makes me sick. Now my son told me this but he had forgotten even now why he is afraid. He had alot of bad memories associated with the other house so I was hoping this new home those scarey memories would not be there.

His dad would also go off and leave him at his house...like leave him I guess to go to the store real quick...have no idea for how long he would leave him at a time. So my son has to know where I am all the time too...unless he is out playing with his friends then he could care less...lol.

If I went to take a shower and he didn't know where I was he would sit in the living room screaming his head off for me....sure he would look for me, but it never occured to him to check the bathroom. He would just get so scared.

Once in awhile if I am not feeling good or very tired I will go lay down for an hour...leaving the door cracked so I can listen for him...he is seven by the way, will be eight in Dec....and many times when I get up I find him with pillows and blanets piled by the bedroom door. So I kind of wonder if he is just afraid of losing me or that I will leave him or something...:(

I have never ever just gone off and left him...now there were times he thought I was gone...I would be out working in the back yard or taking trash out when he would come in from playing and he would freak cause he couldn't find me.

I only know the things his dad did when he had him on visitation that my son tells me, but I think he has forgotten alot of it. I keep thinking this fear will get better in time and it has, but him just not processing to sleeping in his own room. I don't know if he is afraid something will happen to me or what.

Oh and we do read bible stories and pray every night and I enter into discussions about God and Jesus alot...and he brings up his own questions alot too. And I play Christian music alot too.

Oh and thanks for mentioning that radio program I will check it out. Other then doing the oil I don't know what esle to do.

Quaffer:"The differences between rebuking and binding I believe would be the difference between "yelling "get out"" vs "kicking out"."

I am tired...sorry, I still don't understand the difference...'get out' and 'kicking out' sound the same to me. sorry I don't get it. Is binding them mean gone for good? or is reburking gone for good?

Sorry...I need to go get some sleep. On I remembered to reburke last night...and no nightmares...I have done the binding prayers before (concerning his behavior) and it had NO effect at all....nada...:(

God bless

Rebuke- an expression of strong disapproval, to turn back or keep down Bind-a position or situation in which one is hampered, constrained, or prevented from free movement or action

I also use oil here at my house. I think that both of the words pretty much have the same meaning. I also think that when you rebuke or bind, that casting them out is a natural second step. Tell them they have to flee in Jesus name. I will pray in agreement with you that these demons have to flee. I would also suggest that when he is hit with this nightmare, he should say the name JESUS. Just the mention, out loud, of his name will send them out.
Blessings!!!

Exactly, Whitestar. This has got to be your next step. You and I have discussed this before on the other message board, and you did not want to think of the possibility that demons would need to be cast out, because that seemed to sound like "possession" to you. I hope you have learned enough from what I have told you and what you have read here from others that "possessed" is not what we are talking about. However, because of your husband's history, and the things that he did, your son most definitely has demons that are in some way attached to him, and they need to be cast out. Like I said, I mentioned this before, but you weren't ready to discuss it.

You ask about the difference between rebuking and binding. I practical terms for you and your son, there really is not much difference. You have done very well at limiting their ability harass your son, as you will not tolerate any outbursts, etc. That's great. But they are still there, just subdued a bit by rebuking and/or binding, but there nonetheless.

You need to command them to leave. To get out and stay out. To get out of you, get out of your son, and get out of your house. It will be a battle. They may not leave the first time you tell them to. Begin to earnestly pray and ask the Lord to deliver the both of you from any and all demons. Jesus is merciful, and wants you both to be free. He will lead you on your path of deliverance, causing you to meet people who may help you, or find a church or ministry locally that does deliverance. Alll you have to do is ask him.

I know that the idea that the demons are in some way indwelling is a very scary thought to you. Just as you did when I told you to clean house, and advised you on others things, please pray and ask the Lord if what I have said is in any way true. Don't just take my word for it (you never have, which I am really thankful for), take what I have said and ask the Lord about it.

Let me know what He says....

Karen

In my experiance it really doesn't matter what kind of oil you use (though most like to use olive oil), and it doesn't have to be pre-blessed. The action is mostly symbolic... the power comes from God, not the oil. I am not saying using oil isn't good... it is, just don't think it has any special power in and of itself (which I'm sure you don't anyway). I have some nice oil I got from a Messianic man who came to speak at church... he brought several things with him from Jerusalem... (the oil was made in Canada). the oil isn't 'blessed', but it is made from a biblical recipe (not with exact measurements, just the right ingredients) from Exodus 30:22-25... it has the oils of myrhh, cinnamon, and cassia in olive oil.... it smells so good! You can get this oil at http://www.holyanointingoils.com

I agree completely. We have these little bottles of annointing oil that we bought at the Christian bookstore - they are little vials really, about the width of my index finger, but a little shorter - small enough to put in a pocket. One is some kind of oil, I think it is olive oil, and one is myrrh, which has a nice scent.
I have no idea if the are "blessed" or not - the idea of that kind of brings up a negative image with me of being like "holy water" in the Catholic church (I am a former Catholic if anyone is wondering).

I say don't worry about making sure the oli is "blessed". Any kind of oil would do, but I kind of stick to olive oil since that is what they used in the Bible.

Ok thank you all and Karen...(glad you aren't lost somewhere...lol)

Nate had another nightmare last night...:( Been coming more often lately. I felt the Lord had lead me to this new charismatic church several weeks ago and on a Monday I had gone to visit the church and give a tithe(?) since I hadn't been going to any church and not tithing. And they prayed with me too. :)

But that night Nate had a terrible terrible nightmare. I had felt so good about this church and the Lord had really been pressing me to tithe...and I was excited about this church....but then it all came crashing down by this terrible dream Nate had.

He woke me up I think around 2 or 3 in the morning saying he had a bad nightmare about satan. That satan was talking to him in different voices and it really scared Nate. He couldn't seem to recall anything satan was saying though. And maybe that is a good thing.

Anyway he was awake for several hours so shook up by the nightmare...and of course I was awake too...and the next day we both felt pretty awful...tired. He did go to school (late) and once he got woke up he was fine, but I felt like I had been run over by a truck! blah.

I KNEW his nightmare was directly related to my going to this church...

And we have gone twice now and Nate's nightmares are picking up...:( He likes this church too...he hated the regular Christian church we used to go too. He even say last Sunday in church a little bit...he has NEVER sang in church before...always hated that too. He has been allowed to take commuion too...actually had it twice last Sunday...once in church and once in children's church...he was not allowed to do this in our other church.

So this week he has had two nightmares so far...and I DID rebuke nightmares and bad dreams last night before going to bed...we also pray for no bad dreams (because this has been an ongoing battle for many years).

Oh I just looked and found my olive oil...I thought it had got thrown out when we moved...whew! Do I need to put it over the windows too or just the doorways?

Also Karen I think you are right...while I confess I don't fully understand this...I am ready to do whatever it takes...I know if I don't, things will get worse. Here lately when I am going to bed and have turned out the lights, I feel like there is something there in the hall...I can kind of make it out....a dark shape standing in front of Nate's bedroom door...very scarey!

At first I thought it was just my eyes playing tricks on me, my eyes adjusting to the dark, but this has not happened before...now its happened the last two nights...the first time I wasn't afraid, last night I was. :(

I go through the same routine everynight in turning the lights off and have never seen this before...its only there for a second or two then gone. I know the nightmares will start for me too soon if I don't do something...

So what excatly do I need to say? Any certain words? Does it matter?

Also it occured to me last night, after I posted, I had said when I said the binding prayers before they didn't work...but when I had tried them before, I had not cleaned out my house yet either...(I didn't know about that) and maybe that is why they did not work.

Anyway Nate said it took him a long time for him to get back to sleep last night, but he got up even earlier this morning...so I don't know if he was awake as long as he thought it was. He had a nightmare about scarey things in the basement at his school...(the library is in the basement at his school and not scarey at all...lol).

Anyway thanks...sorry about all my rambling.

God bless

You aren't rambling, your are seeking help. I like to get oil and pray over it myself or with others that I trust. I also believe that if there is something there to bind or rebuke that it needs to be cast out as well. As for the new church, it sounds like satan is unhappy about your decision. That would make me think that you made a good choice. I do want to remind you that thru all of this, it is the principalities and powers that you are fighting and not your son or your ex husband.

To whitestar

I have experienced personally with constant nightmares. In my culture, it is what the ancestrial spirit comes to call a person to be a shaman. HA!!! It is creepy.

Well I learned to deal with this already. Though the nightmares did not totally vanish, I still dealt with this daily. I do it by staying away from watching horror films and materials, not listening to occultic chants and rituals, and staying away from situations that can be seen demonic.

I first time that I took the ignitation to be delivered was to pray and fast. I pray constantly for Christ to have victory over this. Then I learn to train myself to call upon the name of Jesus Christ. Because during the time of nightmare, I will get too scare to even think about Jesus. So when my heart and mind are ready with the trust and faith in my Savior, I go to sleep. As soon as I see a shadowly figure or having nightmares, I call up on Jesus' name. I would just keep on shouting something like "In the name of Jesus, demons begone!!!" I just keep on shouting that. Finally, I have very very few nightmares. I am sleeping alot better.

Of course, I am still dealing with this daily. I will never watch a horroric or suspense movie. Even if I can still be not scare during the movie, I learn that demons that intensify my nightmares by making me live in events from what I seen in the movies. Just stuff like that is scary.

The best thing in your situation right now is that I would advice you to get your new church to be involve in your family issue. Most likely when you get into something that demons know that they will be hurt, they will start to attack you so that you will retreat to fear and stay away from help. That church may be able to help you, that can be why demons are attacking you and your son.

I remember one example from my own life. During the time I announce that I want to serve God and go to a Bible college, my nightmares increase. They increase more when I got accepted into a Bible college and is preparing to go. But getting to the college, the many prayers here must have block out the demonic forces. Because I did get less nightmares here. And that is when I finally have the time to open to God to lead me in self-deliverance.

Oh yes.. I fight demons all night awake and sleeping!

Your son is seeing things in the school library that might have been there for years. MY brother and I were both always terrified and tormented as kids because the Lord gave us discernment at birth and we both always saw demons. I believe whenever child sees a scary boogeyman it is often spirits. Always believe him not matter what thats important. Teach him how to fight back in his dreams.. my five yr old brother yells even if its out loud ot a thing standing in his bedrrom.. you stupid nasty demon GO away from my house in the jessus name! teach your son to yell and not get crippled with fear
Tell him God is bigger than the boogeyman.. I know its unnerving and takes practice. I will pray for you and hugs!

Is this a court battle now instead of spiritual?
Demons can not just "free reign" over us, If so, then we would prolly be dead. I think i've said this a thousand times on this forum. If you have sin in ur life un repented for, then you are open for attack. If you have unforgiveness in ur life then you are open for attack. SO pretty much, thats what legal right is.
