Back in my hardcore youtube illuminati reptillian new aged spiritualistic water-isn't-wet conspiracy theory days, I must have come across a debate or comment concerning Paul and his work, claiming he was contrary to Jesus in some areas and that the bible is incorrect because of it or something. Memory is fuzzy. Is anyone well-versed in this conspiracy theory about Paul? I'd like to hear about it since discovering just how many books in the NT were written by Paul, it's already a laughable notion.

I've heard dispensationalists say that Paul preached a different gospel...one for the Gentiles...while the teachings of Jesus, Peter, James, John and Jude were only meant for the Jews. Paul's is the gospel of grace, while Jesus' was a gospel of works. There's so many holes in this theology I don't even know where to begin...

It's a case of 'Christ in all the Scriptures'.

Your characterization of dispensationalists would probably more accurately be of hyper-dispensationalists.

You're probably correct on that. Dispensationalism, at it's core isn't anything more than a system to understanding the scriptures, and like any system has its faults...but it does get taken to the extreme when we start saying this part or that doesn't apply to me.

One quote I heard is: "All Scripture is for us. All Scripture is not about us." (e.g., Jews in the land under the OT law, and New Testament Christians are in different situations.)

Oh definitely. And we can't fully understand the meaning of the NT without first understanding the OT.

The anti-Paul crowd generally argues that Paul wasn't a real apostle but a false one. There are different arguments depending on the individual or group, but that's basically the long and short of it.

I came across one claim, a long time ago, that tried to argue that Paul was an agent of the Roman government sent to infiltrate Christianity and destroy it from the inside. Of course their evidence was, well, nothing. But that's kind of how conspiracy theories go.

Some people take it to a heretical extreme in which they say the Jews can be saved apart from Jesus through their original covenant. If that were true, then why would Jesus tell the pharisees that if they did not believe in Him then they would die in their sins? Of why would Paul have been in anguish over his fellow Jews who didn't believe in Rom 9?
