What is sin?
To sin is to go against God. God gave Moses ten commandment. Jesus summed them up into love for God and love for our fellow human beings. Therefore, to go against love-which is to be selfish, is to sin. Jesus showed us what true love is. He loved us first; without expecting anything in return. He loved us by sacrificing His life in order to compensate for our sins; although we betrayed Him and was unfaithful to Him. Only this kind of love is free of selfishness or sin. Therefore, to be free of sin we must love God and our fellow human being unconditionally.

To sin is to go against God.

One can go against God ignorantly, though. To sin is to deliberately defy one's own conscience, and God does not want anyone to do that, because the conscience is eternal.

God gave Moses ten commandment.
He gave him 613 of them! But many people before Moses sinned.

How much of the 613 laws actually dictated what was right and wrong morally. Many of them spoke about what to do if someone did something wrong. Many of them spoke about how to offer sacrifices. It is mainly the 10 commandments that really gives the knowledge of sin.

Sin is:

1.) Anything NOT of faith
2.) Transgression of the Law
3.) Of the devil

Faith "works" through Love. Anything therefore not of LOVE is SIN...

The devil in mankind will ALWAYS transgress THE LAW "in mankind."

The Law was always meant to be AGAINST lawlessness and more...The Law arouses and empowers "lawlessness" in mankind so that the presence of the devil UPON mankind is beyond denial. THAT is what the Law was meant to show the children of God.

We "overcome" in His LOVE to us, and to ALL our fellow man. To walk in this way is to be perpetually AGAINST the devil, who is aroused even more by LOVE than by THE LAW.

enjoy!

Interesting comments....
So why did the 11 year old Madeline Neumann die last month?
Didn't her parents have FAITH?
Didn't they believe in GOD?
Wasn't she LOVED by her parents?
Or did the DEVIL kill her?
No. She died because her bigot parents refused to provide her with basic emergency services to save her life.
And those people want to go to heaven???
How dare they play god and kill a child for their own belief???
What LAW is that???
If that's not sin, what is it??????

We cannot "rationalize" lawlessness. Lawlessness is carried in ALL of our flesh. We do not "reason" by the law with anti-Christ spirits. They in our flesh are aroused and empowered by THE LAW. So the very LAW that is meant to reveal their presence with us is the same LAW that empowers them to lawlessness.

Make no mistake...you cannot look at any person and not be cognizant of what they carry in their flesh that is NOT THEM.

squint,

I'm sorry, but I have to say that you're just dancing around a serious question (...and I'm being very polite by saying that...).

And I'm sorry you can't be more specific with critique before applying accusations of dancing around...

OK, let me ask a simple one...
YES or NO answer will do it.
Is homosexuality a sin?

The "law" is "spiritual" so if you ask me if what two men do with their flesh is what those laws speak of, I will say that action is merely the reflection of deeper problems. I could elaborate, but you perhaps wouldn't get it anyway. Mixing "two men" is what that law speaks of, and that mixing is the mixing of God's children, GODLY MEN with MEN of SIN who are the devil and his messengers....THAT is homosexuality in the spiritual sense. What you see in the natural means nothing.

The Law says thou shalt not kill, but "christians" not only practice "killing" their fellow man in their hearts, they have taken the practice of killing and enhanced it to the point where they do not just kill, but sentence their fellow man to be burned alive forever in fire by God...

so what is worse?

enjoy!

If eternal life is a reality, our time on earth is insignificant, EXCEPT for it's impact on our eternal state.

Is homosexuality a sin?
Yes.

It violates nature and God's law.

More relevant, perhaps, it leads to depression and a shortened life span.

It is not hygenic!

Welcome to CF,
one of many straight answers is, "SIN is (any)unrighteousness".

The explanation is, God created humans (man and female) in His image(Holiness) and after His likeness (righteousness)

When a Holy man commits an act that is contrary to WGWHTD (What God Want Him To Do), God take's it personal.

To read and understand the first 10 chapter in the bible is to know that law was not a prerequisite to define SIN.

We read and understand that God ended life for all but one family because man degenerated from the image of His creator.

Sin is an act of the human will, which is contrary to the image of God.

Truth is, even the definition of SIN in the Hebrew and Greek is "to miss ..... this explains that man does not fulfill God's intended purpurse for our lives.

No, actually, to be free from sin we must only believe. We don't remove our sins by somehow managing to love perfectly. HE removes our sin when we believe. Then, we love because He loved us first :)
