a test told me i should consider practicing this religion, but first i would like to know what it is?

Neopaganism is a modern form of paganism. Much of "new age" is neo-pagan. Old pagansim was rooted in the countryside and in nature.

Old paganism had a sense piety, and a sense of absolute morality. Neopaganism has neither of these. It says we are the makers of moral laws.

Old paganism worshipped - something from cows to Zeus, but Neopagaism worships nothing, except perhaps oneself.

Hmm, Uk and USA meaning for pagan seems to differ.

In the UK that is a specific meaning not a genral term for 'none christians'.

Neo-agns use there label in a specific way to, it implies they follow older gods and goddesses and belief formats from animistic to polytheistic.

Hey
Sorry according to scriptures they are none coming to Heaven, so practice of that stuff will only be in your head while your walking around waiting to die like all the rest of us, so that is the only draw back from being someone who worships false gods.

You can only give to that kind, your gods cannot do anything for you, but the only True God of the Bible, he can do anything, but you got to get a relationship with thru his Son.

There is No Other God then the God of Scriptures, the God who's Son is Jesus Christ, and who is my father also thru his sons sacrifice for the sin all of mankind is infected with. Did you know you and the others reading this are infected with it, want your body die, then according to the Scriptures that is the infection called sin. It is why the Body dies, but we are given freedom to choose were we want our souls, that is the part who looks out your eyes at the world that spirit is what keeps you inside your body.

When it leaves you, your dead. If you choose a false God then your choosing to follow it were ever it goes, and the One True God said the will all be destroyed in the Fires of his Judgement.

Were do you want your soul to go? What would you really choose if you knew that you were going to die this week. The one who came to give eternal life or make believe religion just to be different while your heart keeps beating once it stops, that choice is made and your sealed to that forever. What if you die tomorrow.

An ex-Pagan here, I feel qualified to answer. :)

Neo-Paganism is, basically: a revived version of Paganism, which is worshipping rocks, trees, waterfalls, the sun (the god) and the moon (the goddess). Some worship the spirits of their ancestors, etc. Some worship the goddess, the three in one, a female version of the trinity found in Christianity which they claim is older, but have no evidence supporting this.

Some even start burning candles and rubbing some plants together and chanting a mantra in Shakespearean English, and being antagonistic towards people of Christianity and claiming that you, as a pagan, are being oppressed and have been for æons and telling your Christian friend to apologise for the witch hunts.

Or at least that's what my ex-friends do now which I grew out of. :p
It's not really a religion, it's more of a mix-n-match. You can worship rocks or the god and goddess, or you can worship the spirits or you can cast spells or you don't have to.

Confusing, isn't it? ;)

tells u what religion u should think about practicing.
It's one thing to suggest someone study about a religion, but spirituality is about what you believe to be true, how you believe one should live and impact the world, and how you connect with the supernatural world. That is not something someone can hand over to you ... here, you're playing the role of Mario Princess Peach.

If you have a hunch that spirits are real, and that they have powers, find out first what type of character and nature they have. If they are unpredictable, and you invite them to help you, you are inviting unpredictability and probably trouble. Just think ahead.

The supernatural world is very real, and we don't have control over it. Someone might convince us that we do, but we only have the authority that God gave us over spirits, and the autonomy over our own selves. The supernatural forces do the rest (sometimes telling us that it's our own power we have built up).

I know, you asked about a religion that doesn't rely much on the power of spirits... but I do think that honoring them gives them a right to work in your life.

i mean, how do u know that ur "true" god isn't fake. srry about that
I once was a pagan. I had those false gods. I can say that they are fake quite comfortably. ;) I used to pray to them and everything - guess what? They couldn't hear me or do anything.

No, I think you're mistaken. I don't think most of new age is neo-pagan.
An example of neo-pagan is wicca, and if wicca is supposed to be a part of New Age, then wicca is only a small part of New Age, and the whole shebang of New Age isn't "neo-pagan" as you put it.
IMHO mostly.

As someone who was wrapped up in that path for several years, I would suggest you save yourself the trouble and avoid it. I'm not going to say it's evil, but it is a selfish religion based off doing what "feels right". If you look at our society today, most of the problems come from people doing what "feels" right over what IS right! It gives you no moral foundations and it does not give you structure to live a faithfull life. In my opinion, of course.

I was about your age when I got involved with Wicca, so I think it's pretty common to be searching at that age. Despite the heartache I did learn from my Pagan years and if anything else it made me realize just how true Christianity is. Before you commit to anything, please do alot of reading. And not just pro-Pagan sources, but sites that point out the darker areas as well. And of course this would be a great time to dust off that Bible, since you seem to be craving religion in your life. :)

Actually, if that's true about Paganism and Wicca, then yeah, I have to agree it's good to have morals. Even I, a non-conformist, has morals

Just cuz it "feels right", don't mean it's right.
