  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I feel that these days the word “love” is thrown around so carelessly. It saddens me to think that our children (adults too) are getting a false reality of what love looks like from Hollywood. So what is true love? And what does it look like?

I don’t claim to know all of the answers but, I know some vital truths!

No matter how you try to think of new ways to describe what true love looks like nothing will ever compare to the love of Jesus Christ. I know we hear it all the time but, Jesus paid the ultimate price when He died on the cross for our sins. Jesus knew that only love could conquer the sin of the world and that a sacrifice would have to be made in exchange for our freedom from sin.

So how does this have anything to do with our personal relationships?

The honest truth is that “love” is HARD! It takes a lifetime of work, sacrifice, and selflessness in order to make it work. I am so tired of seeing artificial love in movies, billboards, and ads. I see people bound to material things or believing that SEX will carry their relationship and it simply isn’t true. I believe that if we have a true concept of what love means we won’t get scared when we realize that love is going to be a lot of work. Instead we will be prepared and ready to fight hard.

The most important thing about being in a relationship is that the focus is not on yourself or your spouse but, the focus is on God and how your relationship can glorify His name. A relationship that has its eyes focused on God will always walk in His truths and prosper. It is when our flesh and selfishness comes in that we see problems start to rush in.

Love is not a physical thing it is a spiritual thing. I think about, what it was about Alison when I first met her, and I remember so clearly that I was attracted to her spirit. Something deep down inside of me said this girl is worth the chase. Seth Barnes said “Your spirit knows it before your mind does.” and I believe he is spot on. It is so important to hear the Lords voice before we hear our own.

So let love be a spiritual romance, I believe if you walk down this path together your eyes will be opened to a true reality of what love is, and your love will prosper and be blessed.

Love is a beautiful thing and I know I still have a lot to learn! Do you have any thoughts? Let me know below by leaving a comment or you can start a forum through the community page above.

The love of God is a commitment and not based on what we can bring
to God or do for Him or if we deserve His love but it is a choice made
by God to love us no matter what because God is love and so He cannot do otherwise.

Part of God's love is giving us freewill and honoring our choices, even if we
choose to reject God and His love.

We speak of love as a thing, feeling or situation but God IS love.

The origin of love is not with man but in God.

God expressed His love for us in Christ as God gave His all for us
and humbled Himself down and bore all our sin, shame and blame
and took our deserved punishment on Himself so we could be blessed.

God gave....

God is love....

If you see God in Christ then you realize the depth of the eternal one
who became as we are so that we could become as He is.

Love gives without the thought of "what is in it for me" but with
the thought of "what can I do for you".

God so loved mankind that He gave....

God has given us so much and even though we reject Him and take His love for
granted, He still loves us in the hope that we will desire to be
like Him and share in His love and learn to experience the joy that comes
from giving NOT based in the merit or worthiness of those to be loved but
because that is what love is, giving without consideration of anything but the
expressing of pure unselfish love.

God is love....

Amen! Love is sacrificial, it is displayed through action and it is selfless. It is not lust, infatuation or manipulation - which is what the world seems to view it as! Great post!

May God supernaturally use your imagination to imagine yourself already in God's futuristic most massive community-built city: Kingdom of God on a new Earth - Rev21:2.:*:. I can actually imagine myself in God's Kingdom and experience the cleanliness: free of dust, free of bad bacteria and viruses that love to contaminate and alienate living flesh such as fruit and vegetables, meat and dairy into the destruction of sin-causing cancer that eats away every living cell until the atoms of minerals and water go back to the soil, to bring new harvest to new-born seeds of fruit and vegetables. From what I have learnt and failed Chemistry in my college years, there are two forces at play: negative matter called electrons and positive matter called protons inside an atom. Our emotions also has positive fruits of Jesus and negative fruits that Satan wants to use to confuse our thinking with honest-like truth to make us lose our faith in Christ by someone's powerful words of destruction through leadership. As long as atheism becomes a polite self-confident non-religion in society, there will always be Christianity that will strenghthen it's faith to win victory supernaturally in the hearts of non-Christians, especially those who are Muslim or even those in Asian non-Christian religions, to spiritually receive Jesus Christ who wants us to experience total super-positive experience through songs of worship with our future newly perfect Christ-transformed voices: and his supernatural wisdom that has brought life on Earth with our future failure-proof Christ-transformed minds so that we will not stumble with our walk with Christ, or become accident-prone. Satan knows that he cannot turn back the clock or make time stand still to avoid the future second coming of Jesus Christ who will end Satan's employment and his dirty work of violence and deception through sin. May the Kingdom of God be a strong reminder or remembrance in the hearts of doubtful non-Christians where Jesus is patient to accept them, even in the last breathing seconds of their temporary lives of limiting human old age on Earth.:*:.

Amen to the OP! I'd also like to add that since real love is self sacrificial, real love is not always comfortable nor does it feel good. Sometimes it hurts and doesn't feel good (Jesus dying). But you sacrifice because in the long run your sacrifices help your loved one and it helps you too. People think love is always supposed to feel good, if it always feels good then there is a conflict of interest, isn't there?
