Love is the desire to give of yourself and expect nothing in return.

I disagree with this. I think if you love a person, it can't be real unless it's returned. You can't REALLY love someone that doesn't love you back. You can admire, look up to, respect, or be fond of someone who doesn't share those feelings, but you can't LOVE that person.

I think to love someone is by definition an expectation. I love you and you love me. You know? I might be attracted to or feel lust for a woman, but I wouldn't truly love that person unless the feeling was mutual. I don't think I could. I don't think it would be real otherwise.

Just how I see it.
Your friend,
Rosencrantz

With the word love used so much and so liberally, the basic definition eludes.

So, what in the hell is this thing we call "love"?

What does it consist of?

How do you define it, IN A NON-RELIGIOUS way?

Give me love, you guys!
lo ve is putting god first, everone else second and yourself last ....

love is looking for ways to bless those around you

love is ignoring flaws and screw ups, and believing in what others can be ....

for a start ...
