Steffenfield gets the win. "Oolites" are close enough to what those things are, which are pisolites. Only difference is size.

Thanks Red!

Yeah, that one was so brutal.... Anyway, my answer was for the one cross section slide, the 2nd picture I believe. The first picture was far too small for me to see on my mobile device.

Anyway, many, many thanks for all of those glorious blessings. I'm sure Religious Girl is so very proud of me right now. :)

For five million blessings, what is it? (Answer has to include the correct organism which produced this item)

Since this is a tough one, I'm going to give you the 5,000,000 blessings for that answer. And additional 5,000,000 to whoever identifies the name of this pearl plus the name of the mollusk which produced it.

Heck, that was such an oddball one that I'm giving holyrocker an additional 5,000,000 blessings. He got the hard part right.

Blessings sent!

The melo melo pearl is created by a snail, as opposed to the more conventional pearls created by bivalve mollusks.

Here's more about them if anyone is interested. Melo melo - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
