The " second death" is in contrast to "eternal life".

I think permanently being bound in the second death will much more than hurt that one. So that interpretation sounds like an understatement.

No, I first read the Bible through in say 1994-95. But for myself, not studying a lot of traditional theology. But I studied Pentecostal Christology, and other parts. Also I studied the Catholic catechism for about 8 weeks. Light study. I later did 6 months of Bible college, Pentecostal modules.

It looks to me like Revelation 2:11 is something people can experience, be taken out from, and then be judged before finally being thrown out or kept in the light. Decided later during the the final judgments.

Jonah says Jonah was in the depths forever. Something about the nature of time is different outside the Earthly sphere.

OK.Sorry if I was a bit blunt.
You know, I think we can wrap ourselves in theological knots or we can read the gospels and the epistles with childlike faith.
Many to whom these texts were addressed were not erudite people.
While it can be a fun exercise to explore different positions on scriptures or even faith traditions, is this really redeeming the time?
Life is short, eternity is long, hell is hot and the mission is clear.
We have been entrusted with the gospel that can save.
May you recieve the comfort, clarity and conviction you seek.

Reminds me of what Paul talked about regarding building a spiritual foundation and rewards.
