I think he is angry, emotional and not thinking rationally.

He is spoiled inside, thats why he cannot even comprehend that any fight and hatred towards God and His people cannot succeed.

Or maybe he knows it, but still cannot help himself. Trying to "understand" him or his motives is useless and vanity, its like trying to understand a psychopat, a schizophrenic or a hysterical woman.

Get rid of him as much as possible.
