I cannot believe what i have seen. People making loopholes and exception to not follow the Bible. I have learned that people don't really care for the Bible and only believe what they agree with! Example, the Bible talks about how man shall leave his parents to then join his wife. Many have said it was a different time and that verse does not reflect us. Then we have the ever so popular Homosexuality. In which people just flatout ignore the verse(s). Then we have the Sabbath, where many have said that "it was a different time, my job and God's work are not the same, he wasn't referring to our type of work" Then we have stuff like turning the other cheeck, where people have gone as far as to say it doesn't mean face cheeck it meant right palm or some nonesence  One question....What the heck is going on here????? Why are people trying to make up exceptions to the Bible? Why are these so called Christians going against the Bible instead of agree with it? Yes I know that not everyone that says they are Christians are, but I never knew these people would come up with "Opnionated facts" I've always said that I would rather take the Bible too serious, then not accept it at all. I mean I feel safer with God that way, then finding excuses not to live his Word. Am I wrong in taking it serious? Am i wrong in not leaving my parents till i get married? Am i wrong in being straight? Am i wrong in keeping the Sabbath? Am I wrong in living the Bible and not my opinion? Look folks even I don't agree with everything the Bible says, but that is not an excuse not to follow it. I am here to follow God, I am here to live by his word.........are you?

Amen. I live by the word to. I find it amazing how people try to get out of obeying the Bible. People like to obey the Bible, but under their rule. If it sudddenly says something they don't like, they just move around it.

That is very similar to waht the antichrist (Papacy does) They change their Bibles, Yes The Roman Catholic Church has it's own translation. For example their ten commandments are changed, because they can worship images and they don't obey the sabbath, according to what they like. They claim to follow the Bible, which they do. Except they've made their own versions with what they want, and even whole new books like the Book of Tobit..

People don't like change, they don'y like being told what to do, when they're adults, so they do as thay please.

People who are like that, in the fact the follow the Bible, until they don' like it. I think a good way to bring them to the whole Bible is by three Biblical truths:
1-Convict them they are sinners
2-Salvation and eternal life
3-Death in hell and no-longer existing.
From that point the person should either change with conviction and want eternal life, not death. Or they will stay firm in only doing what they like from the Bible. People like that are hard souls to win, but we need to keep trying...

When my oldest son was about 10 I had him read the story of Jehoiakim in the Bible. Jehoiakim took out the parts of scripture he didn't like or didn't feel applied to him with a knife. That's where the expression "he's a penknife Christian" came from, by the way.

Pretty soon there wasn't anything left.

I think it taught my son a valuable lesson that all of the Bible is the Word of God, and we can't cut out the parts we don't like.

the bible is the truth..and men rather beleive a lie..it has been happeing since the garden..will happen well into the last battle.
The real controversy is between the truth and a lie.
Choose this day who you will serve..Either the Living Lord (the Truth) or the Lie that you know it all..and God does not..

really? Appearently I missed that chapter lol where is that story. That is exactly what i need to add to my book.

You would ask me WHERE. :) I'm afraid I've become quite rusty in the Bible the last 11 months (long story), but I believe it was in Jeremiah.

I'm not sure I'm spelling the name right but I believe it was Jehoiakim and he cut out parts of the scroll (scripture) he didn't like and then burned the whole thing in a fire. Jeremiah had to rewrite all of his words again.

Look in chapter 36, it should be in there, I think.

Ahhhhh! I used to know the Bible so well. :(

This brings up an interesting thing though.

I know this isn't biblical- but it reminded me of something. For those of you adventists who do believe in EGW, what do you feel about her saying that "Women shouldn't wear mens clothing"?

Does that apply to us now? What is "mens clothing" anyway? Is it pants? Shouldn't girls wear pants?

We've got the really loose adventists here, and then we've got the very conservative ones too. I'm certainly on the conservative side- but not so much that I don't wear pants. On the contrary, except for more "good clothes" and my school uniform, I wear pants/shorts/3/4 pants.

Does her writings change? I liken it to swearing. The bible says do not swear. Yet, what was swearing isn't swearing now.

We don't have to change to fit the times- we instead see how the verse applies to us today. We aren't changing- but it applies different. Ie, swearing in the 1800's isn't swearing now.

What was only mens clothing isn't mens clothing now. Thats what I think. Can anyone shed some light on this?

if you want to get technical, I believe what she meant was that women shouldn't be wearing clothes from the mens department. Example shop for clothes in the mens department for yourself, like shoes, shirts, suits ect.

mens appearal to be more specific
