We see a lot posted here about Des Ford and why he is worng, or why he is right. Depending who's side you are on.

But how many people actually know what issues he raised or why his issues are not correct?

I am willing to bet most people don't know?

How about you? what do you know about Des Ford's issues

Rejects 1844. Rejects IJ. Rejects EGW.
In other words, he rejects what is distinctly SDA. He should be encouraged to join the Church of God, Seventh Day http://cog7.org/ or the Seventh Day Baptist Church http://www.seventhdaybaptist.org/7db/Default_EN.asp. He has more in common with those two groups than SDA's. They don't accept 1844, the IJ, or EGW.

Actually--who really gives a flip about DF??? I surely don't and far too much space has been wasted on him already. Did we really need yet another thread on this topic? I think not!

Honor part of the reason I started this thread was to talk about the issues he raises. Yes I know it is easier to live in you little sda world and not care about anything but what matters to you, but here is why you should care.

say a friend or realitive come to you and says I have been reading this Ford stuff and it sounds pretty convincing to me. What would you say? don't read that? already did. He is wrong. Why? YOur approach is to stick your head in the sand and avoid the issue and hope it will go away.

Let me ask you "Honor" do you even know what Ford teaches? I willing to bet you don't. Just like most SDA.

You have been brainwashed in to disliking and fearing a man whom you know almost knowthing about. Scary

I can assure you that it is all about playing mind games with people.

If you look at the baptisimal vows you would see that Des Ford could easily become an SDA.

"Someone who is not familiar with the issues."

Get real. There is no Seventh-day Adventist Church if there is no 1844, IJ, and EGW, as understood by all the pioneers of this movement. You are about 140 years LATE. You should take the side of B.F. Snook and W.H. Brinkerhoff. Their offshoot still exists as the Church of God, Seventh Day.
From these confessions in a few weeks they both backslid. The old hand press and type was brought from Michigan to Marion, Iowa, and by the aid of a few of the remaining "independents," and even a few new recruits, they started a third opposition paper called The Advent and Sabbath Advocate. They went on furiously attempting to defeat Brother and Sister White, and the Seventh-day Adventists, but especially the visions of Sister White...

Here are some of the questions Des Ford raises?

Issues with the 2300 day
1. beginning
a. who is the little horn power of daniel 8?
b. does the little horn defile the temple or do all the beast defile the temple?
c. who dose the 2300 day apply to? the little horn, the 4 horns, the "great horn"the Goat, the Ram?
d. when does 2300 days begin? How do you determine it?
e. when did the little horn start trampling the temple? At the beginning of the 2300 day, the middle or the end?
f. do you use day for a year or day for a day? how do you determine it?

2. Ending
a. which temple was cleansed at the end of the 2300 days? heaven or earth?
b. if on earth where is it?
c. if in heaven how does the "little horn power" defile the temple in heaven?
d. What happened to the "little horn power" at the end of the 2300 days.
e. how is the 2300 days Dan 8:14 linked with the day of Atonement in Leviticus 16.

Please venture a guess and lets see where it goes. This question is mainly directied towards the traditionalist and conservatives. please use a text of scricpture, history and/ or language to support you view. NO EGW PLEASE. BIBLE FIRST.

Has anyone read Ford's book on Daniel 8:14 and the IJ? I haven't yet but am about to start it in the next few days. I wanted to finish the Daniel and Revelation Committee Series first. I have read some of Ford's articles, though, and some of the accounts of the Glacier View procedings (from both sides). Anyone who is interested and willing to give him a fair hearing can read about these issues from his perspective at the Good News Unlimited site.

I have read his book, the nearly 1000 page book he produced for the Glacier view gathering. He has a new book out on Daniel

In the Heart of Daniel

Daniel 9:24 27 is a crux interpretum with as many problems as there are cells in a honeycomb. Charles Spurgeon was fond of saying about difficult Bible passages, "The harder the shell, the sweeter the kernel," and that is true of this passage. Dr. Desmond Ford has studied Daniel for 60 years and has written thousands of pages about this Scripture book. Nonscholars, as well as the erudite lay researcher, will benefit from this book, and will find many solutions to perplexing questions. Dr. Ford considers interpretations advocated by dispensationalists and groups such as Jehovah's Witnesses, as well as the traditional view of the last two millenniums. The book's main emphases are upon "Messiah the Prince" and his "atonement for iniquity" as applicable to both inaugurated (the Cross) and consummated (the Second Coming) eschatology.

Thanks

Night

I am looking for specific problems, say with the 2300 days or why she is not a source of authority?

He rejects the day for a year principle in prophecy. So once that happens by default you have to place the 2300 days into a literal catagory. That makes the fulfillment of the 2300 days to be in six and a half years from Daniels vision or from the going forth of the decree to rebuild Jerusalem. This is long before Antiochus Epiphanes came on the scene, which btw he says was the one who defiled the temple of God and was one of the little horns in Daniel.

This is just one of the issues SDA's have with him. I can bring up a few more.

God Bless
