I keep looking for what God is doing. There's a lot of positive in the change we're experiencing; a lot to keep us hopeful. But sometimes it's hard to see through all the doom and gloom.

Nice to see Vaush getting roasted by many on the left. For a topic that is near and dear to my own heart. He has the most smug condescending tone to his voice I've ever heard from a human being before. Not sure how people end up like him.. although I guess some will say the same about people like me.. lol.

With people taking their masks off and whatnot I've gotten a lot of comments about how young I look, and how shocked they are to discover when I tell them I am 30. This slightly makes the fact that I will turn 31 in a few weeks slightly more bearable.

While probably less common for men my age to have them.. I don't have any crows feet or any real lines of any kind. Having a face that is quite rounded and a lot of baby fat probably helps with that. Overweight people who lose weight tend to look pretty old after the fact because the fat isn't hiding all the wrinkles. While my face will still have a lot of fat despite not being overweight myself. My mother is nearing 60 and her face is pretty much wrinkle free. She could easily pass as a well aged 45 something. Hoping I age in a similar way. Who knows I could age like garbage in the next few years. Lol.

I do find it horrifying how much some people deteriorate during their mid to late 30s. Some of them even look like they're pushing 60. Makes me somewhat anxious about being more serious about settling down and marrying soon. I plan to marry a woman at least several years younger than myself.. but still I might not want to wait too long.

I'd be more anxious about working on being a good prospective husband, rather than the possibly deteriorating attractiveness of a potential wife, myself...

Well compared to the average person I think I'd make a decent husband with the right woman. My angst about possibly losing attraction to a wife because of her aging is sheer honesty on my part and one I count as one of my good qualities. I don't view these fears as a flaw. A lot of men keep these fears quiet but they still are a reality for them.. and sadly many older men lose interest in their aging wives and wind up in loveless marriages.

Although my post was also about myself losing attractiveness due to age. I'm a short man. Many women tend to think I have an attractive face but if I lose that I don't have anything like height to fall back on.

From the perspective of having been married fifteen years now, I'd say attractiveness or its diminishment matter a heap less than the ability to navigate life together as a team, mutual respect and character. Himself might not be as attractive as once he was (though in truth I think he's aging well), and I'm sure I'm not, but our bond is solid because of the way we care for and support one another.

Yeah, I think it helps to be with someone who you are initially physically attracted too so you can have the time to develop a deeper connection and be more prepared for when the physical looks start to fade away. Also just as the desire women have for tall men is rooted more than just the physical but also has real psychological components the same is true for many men and age gaps. Aging is something you cannot stop but age gaps will always persist. So a man can feel masculine for being the older one despite both couples getting into more and more advanced age.

I view this as another safety buffer.

Since this seems to be important to you, don't marry a chain smoker.

Why is it that things which should be really simple - we have a church building in a particular area, the Lutherans don't, we want to share our building with them - end up getting really complicated?

Seriously, this is a no-brainer. But between people fussing about who'll pay what insurance, who needs to give permission to move furniture, and who'll mow the lawns... headdesk.

Busy day ahead; a service to take, someone to visit, parish council papers to prepare, the bishop has me doing some research for a diocesan project, plus a backlog of little admin tasks... sigh. I think I'm about ready for a holiday!

Yes, it's winter. Where I live, today, we're expecting a top temp of 13 Celsius (55 Fahrenheit), and overnight lows recently have been below freezing. We don't get snow here, but there's snow on the nearby mountains and the wind coming off those is bitter.

I don't like the cold, and I tend to spend all winter complaining and wanting to hibernate.
