That’s how it’s done here. Mass is once a month in various facilities. Others fill in the other 3 weeks. One person cannot do it all for the various residents.

In my experience, in most nursing homes, the Catholics go once a month, and the Anglicans go once a month. (In one place, hilariously, we were at the same time in adjoining rooms; our worshippers were saying the responses practically in unison). Historically, Anglicans have tended to be the catch-all for anyone not Catholic, partly because our history and ecclesiology means we have a sense of obligation to anyone in our (geographic) parish bounds, and not just members on our roll.

Locally, the other Protestant churches don't do nursing home services (except in the Lutheran-run nursing home). But one of the nursing homes wants more diversity in worship - after all, they point out, why should a resident never see a minister of their own denomination? - and I'd appreciate sharing the workload, so I'm going to try to raise it at the ministers' fraternal today.

Whether I can get them to see the value in doing this is an interesting question...

Going to really try to tackle my OCD problem.

Sadly this week.. I haven't been too good at curbing it. My mind.. just plays games with me.. if I don't do something a certain way.. it just bothers me.. and bothers me. It seems so easy to just let go of the OCD.. yet for whatever reason it is not.

I have a similar experience. I'm really bad about double checking things, things I know will be just as I left them, but I check anyway. It's that unfounded doubt that drives my compulsion. But if I don't double check, it bothers me. So, it's easier to just do it, but that feeds the compulsion, for me. So, if I ignore it, I feel the bad feels, but over time it becomes less. I've dealt with other compulsions in a similar way, so I know it works. But if I ever give in, then I'm back off to the races, lol.

Yeah, I'm that way with making sure the gas is off, the light switch is all the way off and etc. Even worse.. I can stare at something for 10 seconds.. seeing that the light switch is off.. yet I start to doubt that what I'm seeing is accurate.

Surely it cannot be a bad thing to double check,

specially when living alone,
if you want anything done you have to do it yourself.

Not so seldom you get people who get on a bus and after a few stops they realize they got the wrong bus, for example.

Or, measure twice and saw once.

I think that's a totally different thing to true OCD, though. Where the mind never knows peace.

I'm trying to catch up on an admin backlog. So. Many. Emails. Most of them actually requiring no action, but still they flood in. Sigh.

On another note, really enjoying PS5. Astrobot is such a charming game.

Oh you got one? That's cool. How'd you manage to buy one?

Yeah Astrobots is fun. Although pretty short.

I don't have anything near the level of Howard Hughes levels of OCD.. but there was a time in my life.. where I was always afraid that I dented a car while driving.. and almost everyday called the police to see if anyone reported any hit and runs. With one time even driving the station asking if a dent was from whether or not I hit a car.

Thankfully it hasn't become that bad in years.

Been a busy day here. Been looking into materials to redo my kitchen. Hit a few yard sales. Feeling more back to myself after my last vaccination which was pretty rough. Going out of town for an arts and antiques show tomorrow. Happy Friday all!

That's rough. I had it a lot worse when I was younger, as well. I don't mean to sound trite because I know how miserable it can be, but I just started to ignore the doubts and they lost their power.

But, in full disclosure, this pandemic kicked some old ways in gear. I gave into it, and developed some new compulsions about wiping things and such, particularly groceries. I know people who shop where I do and didn't wipe down anything and didn't get sick. I began to doubt the need to wipe things down, but continued out of compulsion.

That is, until my sister moved in. She could care less and put groceries away without the necessary wiping, lol. I so wanted to explain to her and control the situation, but I let it go. What will be will be, and from then I've pretty much let it go. Well, I still do some car wiping, but she doesn't drive, so I control that space, lol.

I still am pretty OCD about some things. As you said, I had it much worse several years back. I still do certain things that I have not broke from but not nearly as bad as it used to be. The Covid thing has been very conducive to this problem for people.

Yeah.. when I was younger I used to wash my hands often.. in the winter time they would become all bloody and hurt to move.

Funny thing is.. I don't really care about germs for the most part. I often washed my hands in the fears of getting others sick.. not myself. Most of my OCD is about the outwards, not the inwards.

I don't really like talking about it much.. I just don't want people to get the idea that I'm talking about some trivial struggle. Maybe it's more that way now.. but it's not simply looking at things twice.. or washing my hands a little more than average. I mean at one time.. I came really close to killing myself over it.

That's true, Astrobot only lasts a few hours. It's short and sweet.

I ended up getting it on Ebay after seeing that gameplay trailer for Ratchet & Clank. The shortages were getting tiresome.

The game took me by surprised.. felt like I was getting a little Nintendo out of my PS5. Honestly hope he gets more stand alone games.

Ah, alright. Was wondering if Sony sent you an exclusive invite to purchase the PS5 or not. If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the PS5? Personally I'd be scared that they would instead send me rocks, lol.

Normally other companies struggle with platformers so it's surprising Sony did so well. Seeing all the other bots in the maps gives it a lot of personality. I hope they do more too.

About a thousand lol. It was the disc version bundle with an extra controller and Spiderman Ultimate Edition. I had never used that much of my stimulus checks so it didn't hurt my wallet too bad. I've got things from Ebay before though nothing this expensive.

Yeah.. the sounds they made.. reminded me of Pikmin noises. Lol.

Wow. Hey though, it's probably worth it. I've read reports this console will be sold out well into 2022.

I bought the Digital only version. With my PS4.. besides the first game I bought for it. I never used discs.. do didn't see the point.
