As I was reading through the forum I read about someone who wanted to be a pastor. Then as I continued to read I read another person use the word preacher. I began to wonder if people who are considering being a pastor or some who are pastors really know what that word means.
On another thread I used these words and I would like to use them here: Being a pastor is not about preaching or teaching, it is about leading and growing.
One called to preach does not mean they are called to lead! A pastor is called to lead. I believe much more work is done by a pastor outside of the pulpit than in it. True a pastor should preach and teach...but remember that doesn't qualify him for that position.
He must also be
My advice...do not take this role on unless God places it on you. Because a pastor is to answer for those under him...a preacher is to answer for the message alone.

He must also be
- an example
- careing in deed and not just word
- be instant (ready to reach out and defend) in season and out (when he feels the spirit and when he walks by faith)
- be a mediator
- be a deligator
- be humble
- be firm and well learned
