Imagine that every human being on Earth is an Atheist, or a Christian, or a Muslim, or a Bhuddist or whatever ....... but every human is of one particular persuasion and it's moral code/ ideology/etc?.

Will killing/murder ever be eradicated?

Will serious crimes cease to occur?

Will minor crimes be committed?

Will there be peace on Earth?

This is not about what one does and/or does not consider to be the right or wrong moral belief system ... but more about what does that particular morality prove in practical terms to every single human being ( ok babies don't count .... yet!) on the planet?

I think not because people who already have a strong moral code slip up. We all fall short of God's glory.

That would depend exclusively on the moral system, wouldn't it?

Well .... if it included "no killing' for example ... would that be the case? Amongst 7.3 billion people all of a single exclusive moral system would anyone kill, realistically?

I would think that if people were comfortable in their lives, and living in their own versions of luxury ... you would see less and less non-violent crimes. Similarly, such people living in comfort and luxury ... if people had an outlet for their aggression and/or violent tendencies, then perhaps those who actually have an affinity to commit violent crimes (murder, etc) wouldn't commit them on each other as much. I would assume they still would, however, if it's something that pleased them. Even if they faced consequences or punishment, they still might.

In general, I think the more someone gains to lose, the less likely they are going to put themselves in a compromising position knowingly. The less they have to lose, they more they will be willing to do so.

You would first have to show that each of those persuasions, have a specific moral code that each adherent subscribes to.

Thank you for your response. I appreciate what you are suggesting ... I do wonder though whether everyone would be able to apply this uniform logic during their lives?

Yes good point. What if it was a specific moral code that every single human subscribes to? That is, there is a single exclusive moral code that everyone subscribes to? Say we are all Xoidians ... following a single unique moral code that has been established for every human being and to which every one ascribes to?

Then we wouldn't have free will, or we'd be zombies.

I don't think that we'd lose our freedom. We still have freedom - it's whether anyone will break that moral code ...... having the freedom to do so?

The question is flawed. No matter which religion it is, sin will remain a part of the human condition. And even if every last person sincerely believed that murder, for example, is wrong, there still will be murders because of our sinful nature.

That's not a failing of the religion, however, since the purpose of the religion is to teach how human nature can be dealt with.

Okay thank you. I understand about the sinful nature .... but this thread is not specifically about religion and i'm not sure that others see it that way?

No. Not so long as men have volition.

No moral system will ever create peace on earth. The "law" only has the power to tell us right from wrong and to condemn us (because we're all guilty of breaking it - no matter what law it is). The problem is not that we don't know what's right and wrong. We know very well. The problem is that we are self-oriented and sinful.

Only by removing sin will there be peace one earth.

Jesus has, does, and will remove sin. It's currently possible to experience a taste of this peace within the church and one day it will have total victory and the knowledge of the Lord will cover the face of the earth as the waters cover the sea.

The darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining, as John writes. That day is coming, but not thanks to any moral code or even religious creed. It's coming because of the crucified one who teaches us how to die to ourselves and live to God.

Thank you. A world without sin ..... thats the answer :)

Excuse me, but I didn't confine my answer to religion.

You asked us to "Imagine that every human being on Earth is an Atheist, or a Christian, or a Muslim, or a Bhuddist or whatever.....but every human is of one particular persuasion and it's moral code/ ideology...."

The answer, then, is that men are flawed and so will continue to do bad things, religion or no religion, whichever religion it is, philosophy or no philosophy, consensus or no consensus, or any thing like this.
