  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

It dosen't prove or disprove evolution or creationism. If found, creationists will just say that god made them and put them there. Evolution can explain them already. If there were no selective pressures on their population than it is possible that they would not have evolved significantly.

It should be pointed out that no science can be 'proven'. Rather one can only fail to disprove it.

None. Evolutionists like to pretend they can see the whole picture when they only have three pieces of a 1000 piece puzzle.

This may or may not be one more piece of that puzzle, but it would mean you still only have four pieces--not enough to draw any conclusions on whether or not God exists and created the universe. That puzzle would have about 100 billion trillion pieces, so keep looking!

Stormy: "What If ???"

That is the problem. Man proposes to many "what ifs" into their thought. It would be nice if science would stay within the known facts.

DNAunion: I both agree and disagree with you on that.

If science NEVER went beyond the currently known facts to ponder "what if?", it wouldn't progress. The best example I can think of is theoretical physicists, such as Einstein. Look at how much knowledge he brought humanity. And how did he do it? He was famous for not sticking to the currently known facts, but instead asking series of "what if?" questions, leading him to new insights into how the universe works. Science must ask the "what if?"'s.

On the other hand, when scienctists are speculating about something, they have the responsibility to make it clear that they are speculating and not stating known fact. For example, if SETI wants to say there is intelligent extraterrestrial life out there somewhere, fine, as long as they make it clear they are speculating. If scientists want to say that life originated here on Earth by purely natural means alone, fine, as long as they make it clear they are speculating.
