Suppose on Judgement Day God came up to you and asked "Would you wish that I saved all the souls currently in Hell?". He is not going to do it but is merely asking your opinion. How would you respond?
He couldn't and remain God. Righteousness and justice would fall if God saved those currently in Hell. They are in Hell as righteous punishment for their sin. If He saved them then the blood of Christ isn't what makes the difference between those in hell and those who aren't. If He turned and applied the blood of Christ to them at this point then He was unjust in punishing as much as He did. The blood of Christ cleanses from all sin not just the sin you didn't already get punished for. Therefore it is an impossibility that God would ever even consider such a thing no matter how much we would like it. But to answer your senario I would have to say no I wouldn't for just the reasons I laid out.

"I don't know what You know about why they're there, God. As with Paul and his Jewish brothers, they're my race, so I feel a common connection with them, sure I'd want 'my own' saved. But I also know You're better at this than I am."

Very well said. I find as I get older, I am learning more and more compassion as time goes on. I don't know if everyone is deserving of forgiveness or if anyone at all is, for that matter. Who is to say which sin is too much or which is worthy of forgiveness. It is true that God knows better then we do.

I have always wondered how God will decide. I think of babies born into abuse and suffering, the child grows up with nothing but violence and sin as a teacher. How then does one NOT forgive that child/man or woman that is then a sinner? Who can assign blame? To whom?

Luckily, it is not my decision to make. It is too much burden for my weak shoulders to hold.

I wish for whatever brings You the most glory, Lord.

I would trust that God has judged those in Hell rightly and justly and would defer to His authority.

I would then rejoice that God is glorified, even when the wicked are punished.
