In conversation with my daughter yesterday and she mentioned Calvary Chapel of Honolulu, which I mentioned earlier that we attended during the mid-90s while I was stationed at Pearl Harbor.

My daughter was in elementary school at the time, and she still credits the hard-core instruction she received as a child at Calvary Chapel has having gotten her through many tough periods of her life, including spiritual warfare. They didn't do anything fancy with the kids--straight scripture and a chalkboard.

Now, it might be that Pastor Bill Stonebraker was running a particularly effective children's program in Honolulu because he understood there was real pagan influence to counteract. Children attending Hawaii public schools were in the K-12 "Hawaiiana Immersion Program," in which actual pagan priests taught the children the "old religion" of Hawaii, including worship songs.
