• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.
  • We hope the site problems here are now solved, however, if you still have any issues, please start a ticket in Contact Us

Some people have told me doubting Gods existence is OCD but none of them have been able to tell me how to tell the difference between OCD doubt and doubt because u don't feel like you have enough proof then the same people said no your doubt is not OCD related no ones is. It is just the anxiety that comes because of your doubt that is OCD. So how can I know if I am not going to hell because my doubt is OCD or I am because it isn't. Look up I doubt God exists but also believe he could be real so that is y I fear hell because of my doubt. You don't think God has mercy on everyone?

You can't stop OCD doubt. You can choose to stop other doubts. I can say that I don't know if people went to the moon, then choose to doubt it because I refuse to stop asking the questions and attacking the idea in my head. This is called unbelief, and it is the wrong thing. If you really want to believe but cannot then it is OCD. If you are choosing not to believe because you don't want to stick with one idea and close yourself off to other ideas, or because you simply don't want to believe what you are told then it is unbelief. If you really want to believe Jesus is Lord, that He died and was raised again and that you do not deserve the grace offered in Christ, but simply have a hard time then I'd say it is your OCD. If you refuse to believe that He is the only way to salvation or that God is real because you don't want to make up your mind then I'd say you have some soul searching to do and I would pray that God would give you the will to choose Jesus once and for all. From your past posts I'd guess that the fear is causing you to doubt and you are not simply choosing to not believe. I think you're in the clear.

I have friends who doubt that don't have OCD they saw they can't fully believe because they don't have enough evidence but they still choose to worship Jesus and follow his teachings. I am the same way but I cannot know it is enough to keep me out of hell because I can't have faith. Also these feelings come to me that God is a joke these rebellious feelings. If I can't know I am free from hell how do I not stress out. I feel like either God is not real which explains my struggles or I just wasn't chosen to be saved. I can't watch anything about the planets, read the bible, read apologetics or anything without being flooded with doubt. Near death experiences used to help but now that is fading. I also know two people on here with the same doubt that are okay if there is nothing after this.!?!!?

As with the other thread concerning this topic, please keep this discussion focused on and relevant to OCD and related recovery topics, not on theological discussion. There are other areas of the forum that are specifically for theological discussion (for example, "Ask a Chaplain").

Thanks! ~Recovery Staff

I don't see where I am not asking similar questions I have seen throughout this forum speaking of OCD and hell. I am just curious how anyone can believe OCD causes unbelief. I have already asked several chaplains they say I am going to hell. anyway I will try to be more aware of the rules. If I go to other forums on this site I get yes u are and no you arent someone has to be right and how can I know who that is. Since I can't know it is OCD I have to look at this as possibly just doubt. So I get half yes and half no answers it is a big debate fundementalists versus non. I can't know who is right. That is y I am so scared and I don't know what to do.
