I will like to know what have been our personal understanding of the Ten Commandments and they relationship in the work of salvation.
I believe that putting our believes to the test is useful to gaining a right perspective.
I have placed a poll where you can vote more than once according to what you have accepted/understood from scripture.
Maybe we can come to a consensus at the end of the exercise.
Odd that as a literate people, believing folk do not read a Bible as they read anything else. Seems many read it to prove something they believe rather than to learn what is says from those who wrote it down.
Makes one wonder what is really going on at church doesn't it? Sure does for me.I find it even odder that so many who profess to be Christians are utterly ignorant of the Bible, having never opened it once in their lives.
Correct. But I don't understand how you punctuate a statement with a question mark.So the father of the Jews is not a Jew? Interesting!

Can someone help here? Please! Is there any implication or suggestion that Jesus is the Father?
Scrath, you are so bend on opposing everything I say, that you don''t if it is truth or not.
Yes most are looking to be validated and only wish to hear yes to anything they want. It is generally the way of mankind. It causes many problems with most anything. Vanity has been around much longer than western civilization. One can read about it even in the Old Testament.May I suggest that we as westerners are reading the bible from the opposite end as the eastern Churches.
They (the east) do not read the bible in an attempt to figure something out.
They read it as the authors and explain what it means.
We struggle with the language and partial sentences and phrases in hopes of understanding. From the east point of view, they would carry on even if there were never a written bible. For them, its not a necessary device as they ARE the communities who have lived it.
That's the way it is for The Church of Antioch.
When 'we' read our bibles, we often times come away with the strangest ideas that have absolutely nothing to do with Christian teaching and beliefs. We see that in the strongest way here in GT.
Want to know what they meant by something... do what Rome should have done. Ask them.
God be gracious to me a sinner.
By the way all Christians are Jews. Christ was a Jew. Gal 3:29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
So the father of the Jews is not a Jew? Interesting!
Was Jacob/Israel a "Jew"?So the father of the Jews is not a Jew? Interesting!
The fact that the rich man has five brothers is a vital clue to his true symbolic identity.LUKE 16:27 "Then he said, 'I beg you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father's house,
28 for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, lest they also come to this place of torment.' " (NKJV)
I can agree. This view should not stop you from voting on the other facts.I didn't place a vote because I didn't find "Other" in the list of options.
It's not that I don't agree with a few of the choices to vote on but it's that the choices just don't cover the entire truth of what this is about.
The original question about the principal-"Character" of the Ten Commandments is directly pointing to God, Himself. We should keep the Ten Commandments so that we don't fall under opposition of it and be Judged against and by it.
The 'Character' of God's Law is describing God, Himself, and when we keep His Law we then build that same Character of God within ourselves and His Character will manifest in the believer and keeper of the Laws.
It's all about 'GOD', this is my understanding, even if I am flawed. Thanks
What is my position? What then are you trying to say? Usually those with your position use this to prove Jesus is God the Father.
Good for you!Originally Posted by SG9

Sure it could..........I can agree.

Are you remotely trying to say no one knows what your position is by now? Why do you choose to insult us that bad? What is my position?
Explain how God could commit adultery. It is interesting that SG9 said "The 'Character' of God's Law is describing God, Himself, and when we keep His Law we then build that same Character of God within ourselves and His Character will manifest in the believer and keeper of the Laws."
If the Ten commandments is such why would God remove it?

Explain how God could commit adultery.
God said through His prophet I will make a new covenant....not according to the one...Yes, it is interesting that I, among many others would think that the Character of God is a reflection of Him in Truth. God never removed the TC nor any part of it, Jesus came to fulfill the law, not to destroy it. It is man who removed it, God would have to remove Himself from existence if He abolished His Law. Thanks
I guess you think the Bible is full of lies.Yes, it is interesting that I, among many others would think that the Character of God is a reflection of Him in Truth. No sir it isn't off topic. Its part of the Ten Commandments. Now tell us why God needs to remind Himself not to commit adultery. This is an off-topic question, and has no relevance here. If you are putting words into my mouth, it won't work, I never said such thing, and I don't believe that God is capable of sinning against Himself, otherwise the house is divided. Just the same, we cannot drive out evil spirits by the power of the devil, his house would be divided. Thanks
