What have you all been studying in the Bible lately?

I started one of those bible reading plans about 15 days ago now so I've been in and out of the OT & NT. I havent studied one thing in particular but what pops in my mind is Stephen's speech in Acts. It was insightful.

I don't study by chapter, even though that is an awesome way to do it, but I study by topic, I'll look in the back of my Bible for topics to study, and then I'll look up everything I can possibly find on it, and read the stories to go with them.

Right now I'm doing Depression / Suicide, because I know some kids at my school who are suicidal, or claim to be, at least. Popular opinion says they don't have the guts, but that's where all teen suicides start. And I've been dealing with depression itself lately...

Good Stuff.

I have been studying how to study in context.... perhaps then I wont get things all out of context.

it's very interesting and perhaps should be taught before we even begin to study the Bible.

James

I mentioned this in another thread, but I encourage you to get your hands on a copy of How to Read the Bible for all it's Worth by Fee and Stuart if you don't already have one.

It is a great introductory primer to learning how to study the bible contextually.

Our small group is going through the action-oriented gospel of Mark.

Our church was going through Jonah as an introduction to our theme this year of "Should I not be concerned ... "

I've been studying how the account of the Fall, Noah's Ark and other semi-obscure Bible passages directly correlate to salvation ala: 1 Peter, etc.

Consider the waters of the flood as the wrath of God and the Ark as a type of Christ saving the people through the waters, likewise now those in Christ will be saved from the wrath of God to come.
