Right now I am in complete shock and overwhelmed after what happened yesterday afternoon and can see without a shred of doubt that the hand of God has touched my life again...
I posted on here several times about some decisions that I had been making and was going to start the process of seeing if they couldn't be done with God's help and blessing. One major decision was that of being able to move out of my parents' house for school next year to be closer to campus as well as get out of a toxic environment away from my abusive father. In thinking all of this through, I realized that I would need several things: a job, a place to move into and a way to pay for school other than student loans.
On the way home yesterday, I got a phone call. One of the jobs I had applied to recently was working in a local hospital that is within walking distance of campus being kitchen help. I had worked in another hospital nearby two years ago as cleaning crew and really enjoyed working in that kind of environment, so I thought I would find something similar in this job. They set me up with an interview for Tuesday afternoon.
After I received this news, I texted my best friend to tell her. She was also unaware that I had been planning on trying to move until I told her yesterday....but what I did not know was that on her end of things, she and a few of the other girls in the house they are currently renting are having difficulty filling in an open spot for next year when one of the girls graduates and moves out and they were going to approach me about possibly being willing to fill the spot for next year!!!! Neither my best friend nor the girls knew, but they felt like I was the one they needed to ask.
As I was reeling from all of this, I went out for a bit to clear my head before working on homework and got a phone call from my mom. She had been at home sorting through some unopened mail and came across a letter addressed to me from the university. Back in February, my clarinet professor/private lesson teacher nominated me for an endowment scholarship, which is a scholarship where a student is selected to be sponsored by a wealthy donor associated with the university they are currently attending. The letter that she had opened was the letter addressed to me telling me that the donors picked me as a recipient of the scholarship and their sponsorship for next school year. My head is still spinning.
I realized something very, very special about all of this too...my clarinet professor is someone very special to me and has helped me through so much in the past several years of being her student. Currently, she is going through a very rough time after losing her mother to a long, drawn out and difficult illness...God is blessing me and pouring out all of this encouragement into my life in an area of it where my teacher is the most involved and she needs all the encouragement and lifting up that she can get...God blesses us so that He may use us to be a blessing to others in His name and I realized that by doing all of these things when He decided to do them, God is using me to bless my teacher!
I get to see her tomorrow afternoon in a concert that she is playing in. As far as I am aware, she does not know that I have been chosen for the scholarship nor does she know about all of the other things that have happened. I can't wait for tomorrow so I can show her the letter in person as well as tell her about everything else that's going on....
I am amazed.
