A staff member started a thread, announcing to everyone here in E&M that the site has a new owner. There were several replies in that thread as well.

Instead of sticking the announcement as a closed thread in the E&M forum, or instead of moving the discussion to a better forum for that type discussion, the thread was deleted altogether.

Who did that, and why?
