Halo 2 or Mario???

the real question is what would GOD like??? dont play bad games. God does not like it. You should only play games that are suited for you. like 'E' is for Everyone. so thats ok. But 'M' is not a game christian should play. when one of your friends wants you to play a bad game just say to yourself. "WWGD" What Would God Do???? that is all for now hope you like it!! I happen to like both games equally. All games are ok as long as they dont lead you to sin. I can admit that a small percentage may not benefit from Halo 2, so it is their duty to stay away from it, but not me because I am not lead to sin (shooting, violence, etc). And Ratings dont really have any bearing on moral or social standing. A really bad game can get a T or E, and a good game can get an M.

And what if Mario was rated M? Would you have to stop playing it, because it is almost as violent as Halo. Mario jumps and squishes those mushroom creatures to death. When he has fire power he shoots them down. It can also be misunderstood that Mario and Liugi are druggies (all th mushrooms, etc). Just because the graphics are worse like the original Nintendo Mario game, doesn't make the game less violent or less virtual reality.

But instead of Master Chief... you have David.

And instead of a bunch of aliens... you have a bunch of Phillistines.

And then the main boss you defeat is a guy named... say... Goliath.

Clearly, such a game would be rated "M". But it would be a Godly game, right?

With everything that man and God creates, there is something left behind. People can make a judgement on someone just by looking at their creation. This is why a painting can speak a thousand words.

In videogames, interactive as they are, portray idiologies and morality or the creators in peices. The creators of GTA or most likely not homocidal criminals, but it does show where some of their values lie. If we saturate ourselves with these ideas, we eventually pick them up. If you place a 14 year old pastor's son in a house hold that curses more than they speak english, it is not a matter of "if he caves" or not but "how long" till he caves.

You have to look at this in the right light. Don't ask yourself "does this offend God" but ask "Does this praise God". If the game upholds the principles of God, the law of God, than it indirectly praises the things of God.

I could not chose one because some mature games are better or not as comprimising than milder games.

Well I certainly agree that someone who is 13 shouldn't be playing M-rated games and I will also agree that there are some M-rated games that Christians should steer clear from, but I'm not willing to condemn all M-rated games just like I wouldn't condemn R-rated movies just because they are rated R.

I personally believe its how you play the game that makes it bad.

I look at games like Halo 2, not as killing someone, not as an act of evil, i only look at it as like football or baseball, using a mouse or a controller to move around a pointer and "clicking" and if you click or beat the person, then you get points for it.

I don't really ever have evil thoughts in playing these games, its challenging and it's fun. It's not the killing that is fun, but its trying to get the most points, trying to beat your opponent, playing with your friends and having teamwork that is fun.

Heh, depending on the game. The number of pointless Ms I've seen on games (Halo and Halo 2 are both prime examples actually)...

I never liked any game involving Mario since the day he was created.

Why do you disapprove of a game simply because it is rated mature? And you seem to be picking on Halo II. What's wrong with Halo II? I am not really interested in Playing a Spongebob Squarepants game.
Maybe you should consider content rather than just rating.
